Bah, weak swing! You should see him when he's "powered" up!

Another event dominated by someone playing a character above the level of the cap where no one else no matter what they do achieve the same heroic level. Nice balance.

Level caps don't mean anything if not every single character falls into them. Very very poor choice in my opinion by the esteemed management of Simutronics.

Hiway reg

I see it don't matter what boards you go to their dominated by the same ignorant and jealous folks that are on the other boards.

Hiway, before you judge a person on one post of his swing, try to educate yourself on what actually did happen. It will help you to be more accurate.

Don't blame the folks over the level cap. As recently as 8 months ago Banthis himself stated that the game was now prepared to handle folks over 300 trains and enjoy. It seems the game can handle the folks over the imposed level cap, but the jealous newbies can't.

When you've been in the lands as long as I and done all that I have for and in the lands then you can judge me. Until then keep your opinions concerning me to yourself.

What right do you or anyone else have to just appear in the lands and be able to do everything that everyone else can do? Then why should anyone even train if we all have to be able to do the same things? We all can just be 20th level and stay at that.

Now back to your ignorance. I killed maybe 6 beasts total in that invasion. I only went there to tease Kelforr a bit cause he died. I don't get involved in any events anymore because over the last 5 or 6 years of events here all I get is flack from the jealous young folks when I kill the big critter. What difference does it make who kills it? It seems the only thing that would make you happy is if you were the one to kill it. Just think how other jealous folks, like you, would feel about you doing that.

Once again...

Drizz thats just the thing, I don't expect to be able to join this game and be able to do everything that others can do....but now I'm restricted by the game because of a 160 age cap, so these people can't do the things you do regardless if they put the time into it.heh, seems a little messed up to me...they oughta drop your crappy damn warrior's arse down to 160, leaving you the same training you had at that age, and give you a lollipop for compensation.

(This issue has been thoroughly hashed, dissected & beat to a pulp in other threads - so I'll keep my response brief):

There shouldn't have been a level cap in the first place.

As far as dropping levels - drop EVERYONE in the game the same amount of levels, and that would be fair - but thats not practical.

Not to worry though - most likely the persons will eventually be forced to drop to the age cap. As soon as enough people hit the wall at 160 and start complaining that there are others older than they become, it'll happen.

They should be compensated for dropping 80-100+ levels. Thats only fair. What type/how much? Thats between Simutronics and them.

[As an aside, it would be kinda funny to see a new person start at out level -80, and have to run messages for 80 trains.]

[This message has been edited by Magister (edited 10-10-2001).] reg

I don't think the issue here is the age cap, which as Magister said, has been discussed to death... the issue is if someone with Drizz's training should participate in invasions.

Personally, if it was me, I would participate whenever and wherever I wanted to. The mechanics allowed me to train and achieve those stats, why should I let them go to waste? I pay my monies, and would get a little "twitchy" if people started telling me I couldn't do something that was perfectly legal to do. But, that's me.

I die in every invasion I try to fight in. For months I have nagged, pleaded, and begged Drizz to help me in invasions (and I'm a darn good nagger too!). Not once has he joined me. He keeps telling me the negative comments he gets if he joins in, just aren't worth it. The night at the Graveyard invasion, he was talking to a friend and took a few swings. Sure enough, the complaining starts.

As I've said before, I like that there are all ages and abilities in Elanthia. How boring it will be if one day, all our elders "look" the same.

Summer

reg

Actually the age cap has a lot to do with this discussion..I personally wouldn't be complaining about these invasions if the age cap wasn't in place..Why? because I have just as much right to pick boxes a hundred levels and be of similiar age....however, with the age cap..I'm restricted and CAN'T do this, while he is able to maintain his power..thus the reason if a cap must exist in gs3, everyone must be that age or below.

I'm sure it's a real bee in your bonnet that this will never happen that you will never be the strongest person in the Lands.

By the way, that critter that Drizzsdt killed was capable of fearing anyone that wasn't rift age or above. I would have considered it a lifesaver. All you are able to see is an AS you will never be able to achieve.

reg

Yes it is a real "bee in my bonnet" that Ill never be able to become one of the most powerful characters in the game, not for a reason like.."i dont have the time to play" or something like that..simply because there is no possible way the game will allow me to pass level 160 heh.. yes I think I have a just reason of being frustrated.

So, a great solution would be to drop everyone that is past the cap down to the 160 age limit, and then you can be as powerful as everyone else. That's all I get from any of your posts, and you sound like a jealous little kid.

Can't you see the difference? These folks over the cap have already spent countless hours earning their levels. These folks have played this game years before you did, and have adapted to COUNTLESS changes.

You are against the age cap for selfish reasons, not for any noble reason like 'the good of the game'. There's nothing wrong with that, and it's understandable. I don't see anything wrong with arguing the age cap be raised, but your arguments all involve the folks that are over the cap (stronger than you). You focus on the folks that have what you want, and not on the source of the problem.

BUT, if you were 260, I can guaruntee that you would not be posting on these boards that it was unfair for you to be 100 levels older than anyone else is able to achieve. You would instead be arguing that you earned it through countless hours and contributions that you have made to the game.

reg

Hey call me selfish, thats fine...but I think anyone has the right to be upset that they can't ever attain the levels these people have gotten because of game restrictions. They should advertise on their website..."all new players, you'll never be able to be as old as so and so, but please join our game cause the age cap is balancing"

ya like I"m sure they'd do that.

Actually if I was in a position where I was level 260...I would say.."i dont think its fair that everyone doesn't have an equal oppurtunity to be my age, and I'll be willing to drop to 160 if I can completely reallocate (along with everyone else in the lands who chooses too), and receive some items of my choosing"

I never complained about peopel being way older than me prior to agecap, becuase Yes I did knwo they started playing well before I did, and I knew by training in pick/disarm, I'd be able to do the exact same thing..and then they throw in the age cap crap, and I can't. If you had a character my age AND trained the way I had planned, you'd be pissed off too.

I can understand being frustrated, but I would vent that frustration where it belongs, and not at the characters that are over the age cap. I can't even make Legend and can't imagine ever getting close to the age cap, but even I was disappointed at this change. It just changed the "feel" of the game for me.

I liked that people could change directions, and train in different areas at any age. Now, all training options end at 160. I don't think this is the players fault, or the fault of the few characters that are over the age cap.

How sad. It used to be that those rare few Legends who took time out of their days to help us "younger" folk were admired and offered gratitude for their assistance during invasions.

Now I could certainly see a hue and cry if Drizz (or any other high-level whatever) walked in and started swinging on everything indiscriminately without considering the fact that others wanted to have some fun too.

But this doesn't seem to be the case. It seems that certain critters which ONLY one or two people can kill are intentionally being let loose. Taking this as a given for now, I would have to surmise that the intent is to involve these one or two characters in the battle. It is to encourage them to participate. To give them some purpose in their "old age" so to speak beyond the ordinary and dreary existence of picking boxes all day long.

I would think y'all would be THANKFUL that people like Drizzst are still around to save your sorry butts so you don't just hide and cower and hope the nasty critters get bored of searching and walk away.

I think it makes it all the more exciting. And I remember Drizzst helping me with boxes as well, and helping with invasions, and in fact I remember when he wasn't a "big deal" that he is now - and guess what! He was a big deal to people who knew him. Because of his participation, not because of his AS.

So thanks Drizzst for providing me with some damned good memories of Gemstone. And humbug to the naysayers who can't handle the fact that a tiny smattering of players have dared to earn the levels you have. I mean - c'mon people. These few high-level folks can't be everywhere all at once. It isn't like they'll show up and "ruin" your fun in every event.

Give the old timers something to have fun with too. They've earned it. You have a problem with the cap. FINE. Bitch about the cap. Drizzst's accomplishments are his, not Simu's. You have no complaint against him.

I posted his swing because it did "save my life". One of my characters (level 66 with a 510 AS ) was cowering in fear of that damn thing.

Thanks Drizz I apreciated it.

Drizzsdt...glad to see that you're posting here buddy. reg
I think they should have put the cap at the highest level someone has acheived. Think it was Angellisa. Or caped it at 300.

Gemstone is now having limits and that's not good. Now we got a point where you have beaten the game.

I would never complain about Drizzsdt killing stuff. But it pisses me off when I can look at a creature and see its description..which means its my age. Then it has a 1000 bolt ds...grr. Not even Suvar can get his bolt that high.

edge reg

Heh, I'm not venting my anger at Drizz or anyone that is well over the agecap. I blame Simu for it, I'm just providing an argument, because it seems like Drizz and SOME of the others don't understand where I'm coming from. The fact I played Zanagan for hours each day for 2 years with the hopes of becoming one of the oldest people in the game. I was even skeptical to bother training in picking for fear that an age cap situation might occur, but when they released the new exp formula about a year and a half ago, I thought to myself.."well they are accepting that characters will be over 300 levels, so I guess Ill start training in picking etc" Then a year later they are like.."oh ya, btw, there will be a soft age cap at 160" heh ya ok thanks Simu, that was one of the worst led moves they have ever made. I still feel deserving of an apology from them, but I know I won't get it. Oh well.

The fact I played Zanagan for hours each day for 2 years with the hopes of becoming one of the oldest people in the game.

There is the problem with the game these days. You played just to be the oldest. I just played to play and yak with friends and over the years and years I became the oldest. Course I was passed by a couple folks again, but they felt the way you did. Just here to get old and powerful. I'm not really bothered by not learning. I was here before and I'll be here after all the folks worried about power and racing up levels leave. Course these days they'll sell out most likely. I'm either to stubborn or stupid to leave. You all can decide that on your own. Just keep it to yourselves.

Don't worry about what you can't have worry about what you have, you'll end up with more.

Drizz reg

>>There is the problem with the game these days. You played just to be the oldest. I just played to play and yak with friends and over the years and years I became the oldest. <<

So what if he played to be the oldest? Some people set certain goals for their characters--if being oldest or powerful is their goal, then that's their business. No need to knock it or call it the "PROBLEM" of Gemstone. Not for nothing but I played with Zanagan on Teras and despite his "powerhunting" for hours on end, Zanagan was one of the most liveliest, outgoing characters on Teras. He wasn't some recluse who didn't interact with other characters, so what is the big deal with his setting a goal to be one of the oldest characters in Gemstone and working to achieve that? reg

Hey Drizz.

I don't mean any disrespect towards you, but I think one of the main things people have a problem with you on is your posting.

It is hard for me to see if you are posting as a character or a player. Maybe it is just me, but I find it hard sometimes to recognize if you are posting as Drizz or as the person behind him.

Either way is fine.

I really enjoy seeing new people come to the boards and post their feelings.

There is a couple problems I have with Drizz being over the cap. And unfortunetly it is a double edged sword and I know it probably has hurt you.

But since you can kill pretty much anything that invades or resides in the game, I fear that instead of people saying Drizz stay outta this, everyone is screaming "Where's Drizz?! Where is our savior?!" Maybe I am exagerating, but does anyone remeber when this would happen with Blades?

I remember this one time this HUGE granite golem I think it was invaded and it was just beating the snot out of everyone. I mean everyone. Then Blades shows up and everyone is chanting him on. Blades good luck! Blades get that rat bastard he killed my father and should prepare to die! Blades brought out his trusty sickel with ungodly acid flares, and there was a moment of silence then... BLades leaps from hiding to attack! His sickle gleamed in the sunlight as it careened towards the golems neck! The found it target with a powerful slash slicing through the vocal coards and ending that rat bastards life!

Blades swung at that golem with a 700 or so attack. He had a chance to miss, and would surely have died if the golem had attacked back. It is one of the many "legends" I remember watching.

The problem I see is that while hero's and legends are wonderful things, what happens is people come top rely on these folks for most everything. With the soft cap in place it will be virutally impossible to invade with something you "can't" kill that easy.

So thats one edge of the sword, you become a legend for saving the day, but if thats not what you want it can become very difficult to deal with.

The other side is what I think you are experiencing now. There isn't just one of you, there are lots and lots of people in tha age range of lets say 110-300.

Most of the things that invade now are levels 30-100. So what people end up with is before it was level 40-70ish creature that would wreak hell across the lands so people got angry because all the could do was die and watch all the "elders" slaughter the invading creatures. So these folks play day in and day out to get older they are probably 50-70ish now, and now things again are invading that they can't help with. So now they get to watch the many "elders" slaughter stuff again.

I don't think most of the people would really say that just Drizz is the problem here, it just so happens that when he does decide to let loose his dogs of war, everyone sits up and takes notice, everyone dreams, and everyone then realizes they will never be that hero. Least thats what has happened to me. I was 16 trainings old when the Lost souls and sheer fear entered the lands. That character is now 66, almost 67. One of the better trained rangers in my opinion, and I still can not partake in 95% of the invasions, because they throw something that is 20 years older then I into the mix. It gets very frustrating. Drizz just happens to be the largest target for the complaints, because nothing invades just to slaughter Drizz and leave.

Hell in that invasion my level 90 character was unable to do much.

I guess the bottom line of this post is Drizz you give players a glimpse of "what could be, or could have been" these invasions show them "what they are not, and will never be."

Buckwheet - The "has not" reg

Well since everyone is talking about Age Cap here and it is off topic I will throw my two words in.

Gemstone 3 was built as an RP game. Everyone dies sooner or later. So everyone should have an age around where their character dies. If it were upto me I would just do a random age where no one was able to be raised and they just decomposed and started over. Also about the whole Drizz situation, I think they should let him level up as much as he wants to, but what happens when we get older? We get weaker. So perhaps that should be the more realistic outlet.

The problem with this idea is that it penalizes a person for focusing on ONE character exclusively.

Those multi-character types that enjoy rolling/re-rolling 10+ characters and splitting their time up on all of them would see no penalty.

I see this proposal in the same light as:
"How about Simu sets things up so that each Account gets a flat amount of in game time before the account dies and you have to buy a new one".
or
"How about Simu sets things up so that each Account gets a flat amount of levels that can be achieved. You got 10 characters? Too bad - that flat amount gets split up 10 ways."

I find all of those proposals extreme and unfair.

A system should not be put in place that allows the multi-character types to see no penalties, all the while sticking it to a person that focuses on 1 persona. reg

In General... Let's keep the debate and comments on the issues and not call others names or flame them.

Fact. I have played the game of gemstone longer than the player of Drizzdst. That is verifiable by GM's and other players I have played with over the years. And this fact means nothing toward the discussion nor makes a difference in my opinion on the merits of age caps or my comments concerning (in general) above cap characters in the game.

For someone to blame another character that has played 2 years, 20 years, or otherwise their goals were this or that in game and pick boxes for years doesn't even come remotely as logical or reasonable. It is simply hypocritical and based on assumptions.

The fact is no matter how much you played since the implementation of the cap you presently can not achieve a level that even remotely comes close to the current characters allowed above the cap. No debate there.

Opinion. I think you pay to access the game and are not owed anything in return for the pleasure you received during that recreational use of that time spent in said game. Just because Simutronics changes mechanics, training requirements, spells, etc does not give a player any sort of implied right in regards to their character or equipment. That is stated quite clearly in the TOS and the agreement when signing up for an account. A player does not own anything at anytime and Simutronics can at any time with any reason change game mechanics or even delete an account.

Sure, there are debatable points in regards to sound business choices etc, but those are the harsh realities.

Another opinion. With said cap the pre-existing above level cap people will always if they choose to dominate invasions and directly affect the design of invasions and events. GM's have to take their existence into account. With a level cap with ALL characters at or below allows ANY customer who puts the time into a character the CHANCE of doing something that is heroic or remarkable. Given the current system the odds and design limitations severely hamper that possibility.

Clarification. I am no longer playing the game of Gemstone. I by simple fact can not be jealous of any such character that is above the current level cap for the point is moot. I am trying the best to view it in a fair manner that facilitates the most customers that play the game without any sort of in game design favoritism.

Lastly, do not call someone a name or flame them for an opinion please. We can all discuss the merits of an invasion, event, or issue without resorting to this.

Thank you.

Pockets is alive and well, thank you very much. ;-)

I found it laughable that Dusty's reply to Hiway expressing concern over the age cap was to say something like...

"Oh, ignorant one, I've been here forever. When you've done as much as I have and contributed as much as I have to the game, then you can talk.".

Tell me. How have you "contributed" to Gemstone exactly? Can't be that stellar roleplay style of yours. Granted, you have proven the limits some people will go to in order to gain a level. Pick thousands of boxes. You have also proven that you can say anything you want to on the offical boards ("I'm notta thief! Prove it!") and that doesn't make it true.

How does the fact that you've been here since AOL went unlimited even remotely suggest that, therefore, you have a better opinion? Now don't try telling me you've been around since the Ice Age. You already tried that trick once and it backfired on you when you didn't realize the character you were talking to was, in fact, a real ICE player in the body of a younger character. Remember that? Fact is, I've seen Hiway around just as long as I have you. Does that make his opinion more "valuable" in your eyes now?

Yeah, go ahead. Call me jealous and then tell me to prove you've picked my pocket. That is your MO, eh?

Pockets reg

I arrived when AOL went unlimited? hmm, let's get the facts right here. December 5th 1996 was the official date AOl went unlimited but your actual date depended upon when after that your next monthly billing cycle began.

Now at that point in time I was 28th train in the current body of Drizzsdt. The current warrior Drizzsdt was here long before AOL went unlimited. I, The player of Drizzsdt, was here before Drizzsdt was created. Playing other professions.

March of 1997, I believe it was, the founding members of the warrior guild were invited. I was 34 trains at that point in time.

Drizzsdt was pretty much the only warrior that didn't give up on the warrior profession. He never whined, he never gave up, he just kept being a warrior no matter how futile it was. He kept telling others it was possible to be a viable warrior while everyone else pissed and moaned.

When the warrior guild came out he was the only one that worked on the skills and pushed others to work on it. Everyone gave up on it because we didn't get a kill all to compete with the casters, but once again Drizzsdt kept going and spent countless hours teaching younger warriors how to be a good warrior and how to make the guild work for them. He was granted the status of Master of Arms, an office, and a drink named after him for helping warriors, doing so much in the guild, and being the first to master all the skills. He's contributions are immeasureable to warriors. But you never hear him say that now do ya? In fact when Drizzsdt mastered all the guild skills i was offered the option of taking over for all the NPC Guildmasters. Every office in every guild would have been mine and when i was in the lands all the NPC guildmasters would have disappeared. Or I could have an elaborate office in the guild of my choice and have the NPC Guildmasters stay. I chose to have one office because how hard would it be for other warriors to train if there were no NPC guildmasters around to advance them? THink about it. How many other players do you think would have been that considerate of others. Instead of taking the most powerful option Drizzsdt took the most helpful and considerate option.

Now on to the boxpicking. It never bothered anyone that there were a few of us that picked boxes before the rift came about and we had nothing to hunt. I've always picked boxes, I always will. If I was only doing it to get levels then why would I still be doing it now and why would I still be here?

Don't try to take it personal when you dont know the facts.

Give me a break. You were most certainly NOT the only one who worked on the skills. If not for Glarb, Canardly, et. al, you'd never have even gotten close. All of your 'contributions' in Gemstone are level/training related to date. That's all well and good. After reading your posts, however, I've come to the conclusion that you don't need a fan club. You are you're own biggest fan.

Uhh. I beg to differ and I know a few other warriors who would as well...

There's no reason to defend your argument by downplaying everything that every other guild warrior of the time did.

You know, you were not the first guild master -- You were not the only warrior who worked their ass off in there -- I think your statement above is truly unfair and inaccurate.

We'll simply have to disagree on this. Your mastering all the skills cannot be directly attributed to you helping warriors -- Its simply because you mastered all the skills before anyone else.

I can vouch for this story as well. It was going around for awhile a few years ago and finally I heard the story from the player of the "newbie".

>>Give me a break. You were most certainly NOT the only one who worked on the skills. If not for Glarb, Canardly, et. al, you'd never have even gotten close.

Actually, I will throw something else in here since it's always irritated me thinking back.

First, for my own leverage, I was around with the opening of the warrior guild. One had to be 25 trainings at that time to join and Katt had just that. I am not sure what you are meaning, Drizzsdt, with the "founding members of the guild" -- I can only assume you mean those who were there when the guild opened.

Anyway, Katt has been witness to Drizzsdt and (a warrior who will go unnamed since he has left the game) pushing certain female warriors aside and refusing to help them in the guild. I specifically remember two instances:

One, Drizzsdt and unnamed warrior told a young female warrior to find her own partner when she asked for help. Basically it looked as if you both were saying, "We've have found our own little working group, now you find yours."

And two, you stood by said warrior as he referred to this young female warrior as "little girl" and other derogatory remarks aimed at her because of her gender.

Playing a female warrior and also being a woman myself, that has always pissed me off to no end and there's no way I am going to buy this "I helped more then anyone" crap when I SAW the things you said and did in the guild way back when.

You have helped others in the guild, I cannot disagree with that. But there are extenuating circumstances which surround this. For starters, as far as what I witnessed, you helped others when, and only when, you wanted to. You did not go out of your way to help anyone else except your own "pre-approved" partners. And lastly, I'll never buy that you stood in the guild for days and days on end (after you passed the highest trained creature) because you wanted to help -- You were there for the experience.

Leslie reg

Please, spare us the liberal spin. Just because you didn't get what you want, all of a sudden Drizzsdt and GS and everyone that didn't help you are sexist. Oh and hey smartie, it wasn't me. Drizzsdt and Katt worked together plenty of times in the guild years ago.

I've no reason to make any of this up, but if you wish to believe I did -- Okay, no skin off my back, I know what I saw.

Katt has nothing, NOTHING against Drizzsdt. We chatted not long ago. He may dislike my post, but it was merely in response to his -- Which I disliked. I've a right to say that far as I know.

Wah.

Thanks, I've mastered 4 guild skills, and am about to master another -- Trust me, I have no problem finding help; then or now.

By the way, I am a role-player -- I'm certain this is a concept which you cannot fully grasp, but I don't bring 'liberal gibberish' into the game -- Hence why I never said anything about it except in an OOC forum. Never even brought this up once OOC in all the years since it happened, never will say anything about it in character. See, thats the difference between OOC and IC - Got it?

Two things strike me as a little odd about the direction this thread has taken. No one has really addressed the fact that Drizz does have his own officer, and a drink named after him in the Warrior's Guild. It's a little hard for me to believe that he earned those perks from sitting on his ass picking boxes for years. If that's the case, I best be getting my own little retreat in the Rogue's Guild, and a cool, refreshing drink with an umbrella stuck in it named after ME!

The other thing is that people seem so bitter. I know I haven't been around nearly as long as most, but if I ever get that bitter towards a character in a fantasy game, it will be way past time that I pack up my lockpicks and move on.

I, Revalos' player, have issues with the way that he, Drizzdt's player, acts. I have no qualms with the character, heck I barely ever see the guy, save for recently when he came down to Solhaven, to see you, I believe Summerlyn. I don't know if this was directly at me, or partly at me, but I will respond.

Let me say that I do not belittle Drizzsdt's accomplishments in the guild at all and I am not bitter one bit. He earned the title of Master at Arms, he earned the right to the drink. I never stated that he just sat on his butt and picked boxes. If that's what he wants to do then who am I to say otherwise?

I simply took offense to his post stating that he was basically the only warrior who motivated people in the guild, only one who worked hard, etc. That's simply untrue and wrong to belittle the work that other guild masters and members did.

Now, as far as I can recall Drizzsdt was present during a lot of Kuromaku's guild meetings, but so were many other warriors. All of those warriors cared about the guild. I guess I am one of the black sheep of the guild since I only attended one meeting, but I rarely have anything to say about that sort of stuff. I'd rather it be left in better hands.

Anything that I addressed here, I addressed OOC. The Ice Age thing is something that Katt has no clue about, the remarks made in my presence to that young warrior was a bit unnerving, but there's no secret 'liberal agenda' here. Give me a break. This is a role-playing game and you don't bring that crap into the game. The person who posted that obviously does not know any of my characters.

>>The other thing is that people seem so bitter. I know I haven't been around nearly as long as most, but if I ever get that bitter towards a character in a fantasy game, it will be way past time that I pack up my lockpicks and move on.

I've nothing to be bitter for.

Leslie reg

I have to agree with the general sentiment here. It may very well be that Drizzsdt, the warrior has accomplised a lot, but does ones accomplishment give right to downplay others?

If I give money to charity today, do I have the right to push someone around tomorrow?

A little consistency can go a long way.

- Lord Kranar, human Archwizard reg

Is it just me but Dusty's "defense" of a fantasy persona seems a little disturbing and zealous. I would give one of my arms and legs if real people stood up for other real people in such a fashion. I see some disturbing things there that I do not feel qualified to even approach. I will leave it at that.

I know that some real life ties to certain people will sometimes get you certain benefits... The old saying knowing the right people comes to mind.

Make your own conclusions.

Hiway reg

It's not exactly a secret that Drizz is the only warrior that has ever done anything for the profession. Everyone else is just jealous. Get over it, you aren't Drizz.

Yeah and I defined the ranger profession. yeah that's the ticket!

You drizz lover.

Or is it Katt hater?... LOL

Hiway

reg

You're correct i was not the only one that worked on the guild stuff. I forgot 2 words, pretty much, like I put in the statement above that about pretty much the only warrior to not give up on warriors. Meaning he was in a very very small minority.

To the statement about treating women as lessers? I got no idea what you're talking about. You must have taken an instance with a character that I had issues with and correlated that upon my treatment of all women warriors. I surely do not look upon them as lessers or would Drizzsdt and Katt get along so well? I will snub a character that can't seem to stay IC, yes I will, without a doubt. I can only assume this was such a character.

On the matter of not being the first guild master. Because the way the system was set up it was not possible for him to be. There were 6 of us that had mastered a skill and we chose to pick Canardly for us to make a guildmaster first since we had to train him up to the next rank before he could train us up to his rank and continue leapfrogging like that. Because of the way the sytem was set up at that point in time. Drizzsdt was the first to master two, three, four, five, and six skills though. All that was bestowed on Drizzsdt was not just because he mastered all the skills before anyone else. It was an overall perspective.

On the matter of Drizzsdt blowing his own horn? He never does. Now the player of Drizzsdt might, but you'll never hear it from Drizzsdt.

Drizz reg

Dammit, yer right. I completely forgot the tales of yore I've heard of Drizzsdt the Mighty founding the warrior profession and teaching each of us, one by one, to wield our weapons.

You shouldn't stop there. What about all those locksmiths you gently and patiently schooled in the lockpicking craft? Since you've been training in it from the start and all...

Not even a Jack of all Trades, but a Master of all.

The tree burning was amazing as well.

Leslie, rolling her eyes and moving on.

By the way, you never even gave one example of what you did for the warrior profession and how you single-handedly held it together while the rest of the warriors stuck their heads in the sand.

You can say anything you want, but then again, anyone can do that. reg

Drizz OWNS the warrior guild.

Sonic reg

I forgot to reply to another of your statements. The one referring to me spending all that time in the guild after mastering all the skills just to get experience.

If I was here just to get experience I could have got it at least 5 times faster picking boxes in the tower or elsewhere or I could have got rich and learned about 4 times faster hunting and picking just my own boxes.

What I did for the warrior profession is to prove we were viable. I Proved that if you study critters there is always a weakness and a warrior can be an intelligent and imposing force in the field. I educated countless young warriors while I was at the guild about being a warrior and about the guild, oh wait i was just there for the experience, right? Then why did I spend all the time helping them.

If I did everything just for the experience and levels then why am I still here?

Drizz reg

>>If I was here just to get experience I could have got it at least 5 times faster picking boxes in the tower or elsewhere or I could have got rich and learned about 4 times faster hunting and picking just my own boxes.

That's simply scary.

I certainly do not wish I had that sort of free time and if I did I wouldn't spend it playing a game. Of course, what you did anyone, with that sort of time on their hands, could do. I don't know why you keep proclaiming that you accomplished some great feat.

Well, I'm done. No point in discussing this any longer since you are using the same arguments you always have. Though, I am getting quite a chuckle out of your reasoning for your single-handedly advancing the warrior profession.

Like I said before, you can say whatever you want -- But anyone can do that. I'm not seeing anyone agreeing with you besides the troll posting in this folder.

Leslie reg

<<I Proved that if you study critters there is always a weakness and a warrior can be an intelligent and imposing force in the field.>>

Ahhhh, I get it. So all the other warriors that have been around since God knows when just kind of sat back and tried to figure out how to swing a sword until you came along, eh? Redux nor MO has helped the profession. Only you have. Gotcha.

<<I educated countless young warriors while I was at the guild about being a warrior and about the guild, oh wait i was just there for the experience, right?>>

Did you teach 'em how to size up a mark and reach in at just the right time? Or did you teach your method? Fumble in and sleep 'em if they can't take a joke? Being a warrior is not Rocket Science. Matter of fact, nothing in Gemstone is THAT hard to learn if someone cares enough to try.

<<If I did everything just for the experience and levels then why am I still here?>>

Way too easy a question. No way your ego would let you quit. Or maybe Sonic has sweet talked you into staying.

"I certainly do not wish I had that sort of free time and if I did I wouldn't spend it playing a game. - Leslie"

When ever I see a comment like that, I tend to get a little "twitchy". I'm a firm believer that people should do their own "thing" and not judge, or concern themselves with how others spend their time, or their money.

Comments like that remind me of a conversation I had a few months ago with a fellow rogue in the Tower. I noticed he was a little quiet one day and I asked if he was okay. He said he was upset because people had been commenting and posting about the amount of time he spent in GS. He told me he was a paraplegic, and the game was the one place that he felt "normal" and as capable as everyone else. How sad this man's enjoyment was lessened because people judge and voice opinions, without having a clue what someone's real life situation is. Grrr, it made me want to just go out and start slicing heads off, I tell ya true!

Oh, and Drizz, I know you don't want ME to answer that little question that you asked!

Summer

reg

The people that say you should only spend X amount of time in GS are the jerkoffs who are too insecure to admit that they feel like they wasted their time playing. Most of them are teenagers that turned to GS to escape and now for some reason or another regret it. If you feel like you are the arbiter of determining how well people spend their time, you really should examine yourself too.

Sonic reg

<<Ahhhh, I get it. So all the other warriors that have been around since God knows when just kind of sat back and tried to figure out how to swing a sword until you came along, eh? Redux nor MO has helped the profession. Only you have. Gotcha.>>

That's the problem right there. It's not always how or what you swing it's exactly when and where you swing it. Redux and MO and the armor changes came after the struggles of the warrior profession that I perservered while the majority of warriors left or stopped playing their warriors. It's easy to be a warrior now.

<<Did you teach 'em how to size up a mark and reach in at just the right time? Or did you teach your method? Fumble in and sleep 'em if they can't take a joke?

First off I don't teef. Secondly, I only sleep folks that I SEE attempting to teef me or folks that cast spells at me. I or anyone else would not be allowed to sleep someone because you fumbled a theft attempt? I would no longer be here if I did that. Get real.

<<Being a warrior is not Rocket Science.>>

Not anymore it isn't.

Hey, I heard Porcell was turning honest. And the Dhe'nar are having tart-baking contests. And yanno, I've got this great, barely used dirigible to sell you. Only flown on weekends by a bunch of gnomes...

Peace out. reg

Dusty/Drizzsdt/or whatever personality might be at control of your body right now.

This is a BBS on the internet. This is not Elanthia. This is not the warrior guild. This is a forum on the world wide web, a electronic gathering of text, images, and sounds.

Is this all clear now? You are not Drizzsdt or even Dusty. You are a real person.

I have a question on your motives also given your responses. Explain to me why I have as a real person playing a fantasy game seen Drizzdst the character steal from other fantasy characters? Or... Are you saying teef with the lack of correct spelling or pronunciation based on your real point of view. If that is the case that is good. I hope people in the real world do not thieve or teef as you put it.

I will also personally attest to seeing your character going at great lengths to "teach" other professions on how to train etc. I distinctly remember Drizzsdt the "warrior" telling a sorcerer how to hunt and be a sorcerer.

Maybe you should ask Me,myself, and I exactly again why you are "here".

Hiway reg

That's what I thought he was saying also...

Trying to hide behind poor spelling.

I guess that's what you're doing then since it's thief. reg

whats the next post gonna be?

"oh yea, your mom left her pink thong over my house last night!!!!"

you guys are acting like a bunch of stupid 10 year old newbies. get a grip and STFU

one time I got my boxes picked by Drizz and he stole from me because he said I didn't tip him enough. Maybe it was one of the 5 people playing him to get him to age 2**(who cares)?

We need to get back to the subject of this post. The GY invasions are GOD PLZ! I especially like the arachnoids and haunted apparitions, which are around 90. When they would gen in a big group, I'd sit out there and 319 and it would do massive damage, although I'm one of the rare clerics 1xed in spell aim and mana share.

I also enjoyed the troll princes although I think they should be older for having 900 AS. I was almost getting hit! eek.

I think the dark hooded monks 525ing was pretty cheap, but it hasn't happened as often in recent invasions.

GMs doing pretty good work on these invasions, I like them. Maybe we can see Sheruvian acolytes get their own hunting ground?

"Maybe it was one of the 5 people playing him to get him to age 2**(who cares)?"

Okay, I just have to comment on this statement. I don't know about years ago, but I've been around Drizz more than anyone this past year, and I'm sure not aware of anyone else playing him. I don't think I'm THAT dumb that I wouldn't notice!

Do you have any facts to support that statement, or is it based on gossip and assumptions?

Alright ladies and gentlemen. This isn't a topic about Drizzdt and it isn't a topic about people who have an issue with him. It's about the Graveyard Invasions.

Lots of clerics are singled in both. Spell aiming don't help with 319.

I'm one of the rare clerics to single 1x aim and share because i'm level 94. Who else at 94 can vouch for that? I could probably count the numbers on both fingers.
I heard share/aim did help. If not, what does, mr smarty pants?
