Urebririon's Shield Raffle.
GS3-STANDARD: This information is of interest to GemStone III Standard players.

Time:9:00 PM, Eastern Time.

General Info:Urebririon is proud to present a series of raffles on a set of shields that took him nearly a century to obtain. By far the best items Urebririon has ever possessed, he plans on selling these shields in a series of raffles, one shield each week.

The raffle will sell an unlimited number of tickets at the cost of 25,000 silver per ticket. So, make sure to buy lots of tickets to increase your chances! Once the raffle starts, it will end 24 hours later and the winner will be awarded their prize on Friday.

But yet they said Thimbuls Diamond was to powerful and would not replace it when the person got hack. But they replaced all his other items.

Go figure. Really confused about that.

All us merchants are in shock with this item. I would pay 200m for one of those shields or more.

Don't get me wrong. I like to see items like this. God, I would love one. But I thought self mana items was a no no now.

Bet they will be attuned to the person too. To prevent the selling of them. Which I am NOT complaing about before people say quit complaining.

But then again, I'd like to revise my opinion that 100,000,000 be changed to closer to 1,000,000,000.

You only get ONE spell for each shield in the room that is OUT and in the left hand of the right profession. So to get all 8 spells you need 8 titled characters 1 of each profession WITh the shield out. On top of that the shields were very weak and so will probably break if used in combat.

Plus I don't know about bringing a slave with me to the rift to refresh my blues every 3-4 minutes.

sonic makes a valid point. 200m for casts of 107 whenever you want is just a waste. I can see spending 200m on a self mana 117 item, but not for spells such as blues, camo, tremor. You could get someone to imbed most of these spells in a thousand amulets probably for 1m. You could even make an arrangement like someone could meet you once a week and imbed for you, for a good enough price. Slaves are also a good alternative. Spending 200m on these items is a good way for Simu to drain silvers out of the lands, and that is all.

What would you rather have?

A one of a kind shield is something you can hang on a wall and show your grand kids so to speak. A slave character isn't.

Actually... a Toyota Echo goes 0-60 in 8.4 seconds while an Escalade does the same in 7.4 seconds according to Motor Trend.

A 345 hp V-8 will get you moving in a hurry, even in a huge SUV. Although the Escalade does get about 10 miles to the gallon, heheh. reg

Everyone keeps moaning about the price of gas so why not save yourself some money not only on the car but on the gas you put in it.

Not to mention all the analysts are screaming RECESSION!!!

I personally would want to start tucking a little more away then I was before.

So its just like breakage. The people who have the connections to get neat items at good prices will be like the people who have 20 cars all rare or unique. Do they take those cars out everyday in rush hour, or are they sitting in a glass garage so people who come over can look at them?

I am dumping items and getting coins, not buying things I don't absolutely need.

And it just so happens that 25k for a raffle ticket for a shield I don't need falls under that category. I have also retracted my "no tips accepted" policy on my characters who provide services. So now my rogues, cleric, and empaths all accept tips again.

I also have trimmed down my overall inventory and coin supply. Over the past month I have sold about 50m in silvers because strangely enough those folks who were buying were looking to pick up some of my items.

I think with items such as these shield and other items coming into the game it will make items more unique, but I also think that people like me are not going to get rid of their coins like they used to.

For me gone are the days for raffles, dragon bones, conquest wheel, pinatas, dark box.

Oh well things change.

Every minute? Not hardly. If you're only counting the initial drop on an empty plane, then you'd be right, but as far as actually hunting on a plane, you can keep outside spells for up to 5 minutes or longer at times.

Anyone that spends 200 million on a shield with 107 in it, WITHOUT owning the other shields is a moron. You can buy a self-mana weapon with most of these spells for far far less-and they have no limitations on their use. The only thing the shields have going for them would be their increased abilities when used in conjuction with one or more of the other shields in a hunting environment. Somehow, without them being in the possession of a multi-accounting family, I doubt that will happen often. On top of all that, the risks of actually using them in the field with their sub-par breakage are just too great.

Not to get off track or anything, but I believe motor trend used the AWD version in their tests. The "cheap" version has only 285 ponies, is two wheel drive, and still gets horrible gas mileage. (MSRP 48,000+)

If that gets to 60 in under 8.4, I am pretty impressed.

And if that is the case, just replace "escalade" with "navigator" in all of my posts. That gets to 60 in just under 3 days.
