DB items will break

I don't own one, but here's a post from the official boards regarding DB items.

All db items have ST\DUR numbers assigned

Now...maybe its just me...but how is something going to whack on a DB ring? That would have to be the lucky hit of the century. Ah well...I know a few people who were stocking up on 5-10x DB stuff to circumvent the system, guess they got found out.

They may as well make everything break. It would be more.. 'realistic'. reg

I don't know... , jewelry seems to get caught, scraped, bumped, or dinged more times than anything i know of.

It'll whack a DB ring the same way a ring worn on the finger will protect the back of your knees. System mechanics and your imagination.

Unless you think it makes sense for a ring to protect your ankles, or your head, or your back?

Ok guys,

I had agreed with you previously when it was pointed out that we had given completely contradictory answers as far as non-armor/weapon/shield items with ST/DU numbers and breakage clashes. I really did look for some clarification on that, and this is what I've got:

1) At the present time, the plan for the implementation of breakage -does not- include non-armor/weapon/shield items clashing and being subject to degradation/breakage. That means that for now, the cloaks, boots, jewelry, etc are not part of breakage despite some having ST/DU numbers.

2) This does not mean that this will be true forever. As with all things in Gemstone - it's subject to change! (And in all things period of course - only thing you can count on not to change are death and taxes, as the saying goes!) Sooo, in the -future- it may be that the breakage system might expand to include things such as boots, gloves, cloaks or what have you.

Hope this clarifies where the confusion came from!

Lovely.

some petite slippers with delicately jewelled heels

Careful examination indicates the petite slippers has a strength of 10 and a durability of 205. You also determine the current state of the petite slippers to be at 99.99% integrity.
You see nothing unusual.

If nothing is going to be sacred while hunting, I think I shall have to start hunting in scrubs. At least then I won't have to worry about my pretty or special stuff. I'm always being teased to lighten up while hunting...I guess this will force me to it!

Translation: The connected people that have the bulk of these items in the first place, called in some favors.

- only thing you can count on not to change are death and taxes

And ironically, that's exactly what breakage will do! reg

Specto...get your facts straight before talking smack.

Edge owns absolutely 0 yes, zero if you can't read the number 0, DB items.

Wadsworth/Ardwen/Ciston/Reife own the bulk of this games DB items. reg

hehe. Thanks Omni.

No db items! I may sell them for friends, doesn't mean I own them.

Havn't owned one in almost a year now. Last one I sold was 1x db belt.

edge

PS: I always told people db was a bad investment. they would go after them eventually because they think they are unbalancing.

Actually when I read Tolli's post of answers on the GS boards I saw the mistake and pointed it out to her. So far as I know this has always been the initial plan. As she mentions where we go after the initial version we're not really sure. But just because items have a ST/DU number does not mean they'll clash. Just the vagaries of armor type objects. Initially it will have to be worn in an armor spot to clash.
