Alot of Questions

1. after rats.. whats next.. anyone give me a kinda.. 0-50 type list for the best critters to hunt as a pure spell caster <of course> sorcerer?

2. Sacrifice.. well, i know you cant get it at 1 train, so when?

3. best tactics for hunting what critters?

4. how much does stance/open hands matter with MD and Implosion

Bein as this is my folder, I'll answer yer questions best I can.

1. From 1-5 or 6 I would do rats. I'd probably then do mummies for a couple trains, they're 6 and 2 or 3 casts should kill em every time if yer castin open handed in offensive. 8-11 I would do mants and thraks, maybe even blade hunt em if yer in col. 11-16 I'd blade hunt fire guardians or hunt em with md, easiest hunting you'll ever do. 16-20 I'd probably do the glacier, there are alot of options at this point, could do zombies if your cs is good enough, or thunder trolls/wind witches. from 20-25 I'd do either stone trolls or zombies. from 25-30 I would do either stone giants or maybe rotting corpses, if you can deal with the occasional roa'ter death. 30-35 corpses or pookas, I did corpses with my characters, really easy. 35-45 I'd do lords and horses, once you get the area down, it isn't much of a challenge. 45-50 I'd do phantasmas, really simple with implosion, piece of cake. I'm sure someone else can come up with much better hunting ideas, I usually do the same creatures with all my characters cause I know em already. I'm lazy like that.

2. I am pretty sure you can get it at 6 trains, has something to do with the target having to be stunned and getting mind jolt at 6.

3. Well this is an extremely broad question, for most critters I'd use either md or implosion, or if you are doing magic using critters, combination of DC and md, or if you're doing ethereal critters, combination of disintigrate and implosion. Really depends on what you are hunting.

4. For md, it helps alot. For hunting with md I would always hunt with an open right hand and in offensive. I hunted that way from 20-50 and it really makes a differance. For implosion the differance is hardly noticeable, although there is a slight differance.

5. Implosion, although I am a bit partial, being fully doubled in spell aiming and singled in perception, and a halfling, at 50, I'm pretty damn good with it. It's my main hunting spell.

6. Sacrifice isn't very useful. The formula is something like 20 + critter level = mana you receive. It takes 1 spirit for a failed attempt, 2 for a succesful one, and it can only be done on living creatures under or near your age. They have to be either stunned or near death, or both, for it to work. It kills instantly if successful. There's also a time limit in between uses, something like 15-20 minutes, which is why it isn't extremely useful.

7. I'd say depends on race. For halfling/giant/dwarf/human/half elf I would pick col. Dark elf/fair elf/sylvankind I would pick voln. Although any race can do fine in either society, it's just some do better in one or the other. I'm a halfling in voln and I do great, is really up to you and your goals.

8. 400's definitely, I'd get up to 103 first, then start singling in 700's and 400's til you hit 425, then maybe start puttin some into spirit. I'd also stop at 720 for awhile to get some spirit spells, then later resume sorcerer spell training.

Kobolds and squirrels, roltons and hobs, snowcats - all in the general under-level-5 category. As for the rest, it's an adventure game. Explore and find out for yourself.

Not sure when, it was implemented when I returned to GS and didn't use it but once. I already had 70-something levels by then.

Not sure about implosion. It definitely matters with MD. If you're still hunting rats though, you won't be trying it yet anyway since you won't have enough mana to cast it yourself for awhile, and when you do you'll need the defenses of your weapon and shield, unless you go the brawling sorcerer route.

My personal favorite is disease, because it's disgusting, and tortures the critter for a rather long period of time, which is a very sorcerous thing to do. But I like the entire realm of sorcery, which is why I picked it in the first place.

That's a matter of choice these days I guess. I got airwall right away (102) and then moved over to the elemental realm til I had 406, then switched again to minor spirit til I have 107, then switched back again to 419, then back to 120, etc. etc. Worked great for me.

Erm, I can help with one or two of those, maybe.

I would do the 400s, till 14, then up to alkars, then back to 400s. Wall of forces isnt really all that useful at 50, considering it only lasts 10 minutes, stick to a ruby amulet for those emergencies.

I rarely use sacrifice, dont have much in the way of mana problems, and even if I did, I can rarely sacrifice anything Im hunting.

I like voln. Fog and dream are both extremely useful, as is self preservation (esp for the dark elf). I switched at twenty or so from the other and did have to do a good bit of group hunting till 27 or so. I think it may be more difficult to go voln solo hunting, because of the loss of crit power, makin the hunts more mana intensive. At seventyish, I have no issues with the mana, or the insta health you can receive from the other. If I die, its from a crit. I have also enjoyed calming masses of stuff so I can pick them off one by one.

Best sorcerer spell is, heck, I dont know, they've all been screwed up. I like evil eye. Dc is alright, even with the diminished returns and lack of any real power (except against certain stuff). Mana d still works well if you can sit and cast at something without worrying about it hitting you. Torment would be my favorite spell, if it wasnt based on unbalance crits. Focused implosion and focused maelstrom are novelties. If I wanted to aim spells I would have been a wizard. FI is nice for PvP though, when some lil snert gets fully spelled before he bothers you.

I dont like it, some folks love it.

As for hunting, it depends on the critter. Is probly best to swing something at a rat, though, that I know. Someone else most likely has more recent hunting info for you, as things have changed alot since I was young.

Lets see if I can think of anything else important for you. Make sure you get your armor training up. I like to be in scale armor, it absorbs hits nicely. I also thouroghly enjoy picking. If I had to reroll, Id be a rogue. You, as a sorcerer with nice wisdom, will be able to see the traps fairly well, and there is very little nicer than being able to chat with friends while pickin youngun's boxes sittin on a node. First aid is also nice, if you can get it, there's good money in skins.
