Dwarven warrior?

Having finally opened up a premium account so I can play around with some different characters, I'd like to roll up a warrior. I like to roleplaying capabilities that a dwarf provides, and I know that long term they are quite viable.

I'm curious if anyone has anyone idea what a good set of totally-optimized stats would be to start with?

After I get these rolls and see what kinda TPs I'm going to start with, I'll work out a training plan. I plan on taking him the polearm direction, or possibly two-handers. Not really sure yet.

You really don't want to make his stats totally optimized under the new mangler because you will end up with like mid 30's in physical TPs...which is pretty retarded. The one problem with trying to compromise is that the fact that a dwarf warrior has 5 quite slow growing stats, where most profession have 3 or 4. And since you cant have over 4 stats over 70 in the new mangler, it can cause some problems.

What i like to do (if i want to optimize) with warriors in general is to have two garbage stats, and optimize the rest of the way. I pick wisdom and charisma as my garbage stats.

These are the stats you need to get maxed out by 100:

LO 89
IN 89
AU 82
DE 74
DI 63
RE 63
ST 30 (put at 20 +10 prof. bonus)
CO 30 (ditto)

Garbage Stats:
CH 85
WI 78

This (If you count the profession bonus) leaves 120 points to work with. Now, you can put CH and WI both at 60 and use up all your points, which will put you pretty crappy as far as training points go (and will also not max those stats out till 150+, though i didnt figure out the exact date), or you can totally junk them at 20 and put 80 points wherever you want. I personally prefer the latter method. Though you probably wont fully max till your 400's, I think the advantages you have while younger benifit more than squeazing the most possible tps out of your training 5 years from now.

What using the garbage stat method does is optimize every stat except two very quickly, as apposed to maximizing all stats by a longer period.

So, with the garbage method you'd look something like this in the mangler to start:

LO 89
IN 89
AU 82
DE 74
DI 63
RE 63
ST 20
CO 20
CH 20
WI 20

Points free: 80
TP's
32.2/36.3

Put 69 on DI and that gives you .6 more on each side, making AU 100 gives you another 1.8, for a total of 2.4 to each side (34.6/38.7). This leaves you 56 points to work with. I'd put 54 on the physical side and 2 on the mental side personally, and that would leave you at 40/38.9 .

And unless ive erred on math somewhere, 40/38 isnt too bad to start with, though a little more even than you'd want with a warrior. But, if you want to optimize stats, you have to make sacrifices.

I finally got his rolls figured out, and this is what I came up with. Here's his training and stats at 6 (stats max at 155):

Name: XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Race: Dwarven Profession: Warrior (not shown)
Gender: Male Age: 40 Expr: 76994 Level: 6
Currently Stat Bonus
Constitution (CO): 41 .... 11
Dexterity (DE): 74 .... 12
Discipline (DI): 73 .... 21
Logic (LO): 75 .... 17
Intelligence (IN): 74 .... 12
Strength (ST): 41 .... 6
Reflexes (RE): 73 .... 6
Charisma (CH): 67 .... -2
Wisdom (WI): 67 .... 8
Aura (AU): 79 .... 4
Mana: 11 Silver: 0

XXXXXXX (at level 6), your skill bonuses and ranks are:
Skill Bonus Rank
-------------------------------------------------------------
Armor Use : 66 [14]
Shield Use : 35 [7]
Combat Maneuvers : 66 [14]
Two-Handed Weapons : 66 [14]
Climbing : 15 [3]
Swimming : 20 [4]
Multi-Opponent Combat : 25 [5]
Perception : 35 [7]
Physical Training : 35 [7]
Brawling : 66 [14]
Mental Training Points : 13

Currently I get 38/43 TPs per train, which is fine for my training plan, which you can pretty much see from above. I'm going 2x armor, 1x shield, 2x CM, 2x two-handers, .5x climb/swim, 1x MO, 1x perception, 1x PT, and 2x brawling. I'm not at all worried about my 2 missed ranks of MO... it allowed me to keep a core plan of the skills I mentioned before, and I will never deviate from them.

I've charted out theoretically to 150, with plans for 102 share by 47, 24 ranks of scrolls/MIU by 95, and 50 ranks of pickpocketing. I will also begin doubling FA to become 1x for life. At level 54 or so, I will be able to begin picking up 2x shield (another redux rank, the way I see it) without any change to my plan.

I'll be able to begin singling ambush too, at some point, and I'm curious as to any opinions on that. Again, I see it as another redux rank, and I really don't see what else I would dump my TPs into. I don't know how effective ambushing with two-handers would be, so that's why I ask.

The optimization is going to pay off and I'll be able to train in the core skills I mentioned, plus the other things such as scroll reading, MIU, pickpocketing, disarming/lockpicking (any thoughts on this? yes, no?), trading, and first aid. Is this what most older warriors dump their spare TPs into, or what?

He will be a Council member for life, so the brawling isn't really for Fu. I'm just a huge proponent for the offhand DS that brawling provides. It's been so helpful on so many occasions that I swear by it. And again, it's goes towards redux.

I'm endlessly (very, very, very, very) serious about this character, and I'm curious as to the comments you might have about him. Is he viable? I'm pretty sure he is. Anyways... any training ideas, questions, whatever... post.

I'd say he is definitely viable, but if you are doing brawling for purely defensive reasons, I'd single in it. If you are doing it for a cheap redux skill, I would still single in it, weapon ranks factor into redux about a third as much as primary. Only reason to double brawling is if you are joining voln. Ambush is a redux skill and it helps to aim, I recommend singling in it for any warrior.

Well, I don't know about *pure* defensive reasons... I guess some of the new brawling weapons could be viable, but I think two-handers would have a little more stopping power.

If you only suggest singling in brawling for the defensive/redux benefits it gives, should I not train brawling at all for the next 7 trains, to bring it back to 1x per level, then 1x from there on out? If I do that, I'll be able to begin singling ambush at 15 (I can always double 16 times aroud 90-110) to bring myself to 1x a level for it.

Anyways, I've adjusted to just train 1x brawling over all, and included ambushing beginning at level 15. Any other ideas or suggestions?
