Not that this in anyway makes up for the slam we've taken in recent months...

01:23 AMIt has been detectable by 405 as long as I can remember when you cast it on the familiar.

04:47 PMWhen I said it could be detected using 405, I was referring to the spell itself, not the familiar. You too can try it, just use elemental detection on yourself and it will give you an estimate of how much longer your familiar will be around, just like any other spell.
