AvD changes on bolt spells

Seems like the AvD for wizard's bolt spells have been tweaked.

Before:

You gesture at a fire sprite.
You hurl a stream of water at a fire sprite!
AS: +455 vs DS: +275 with AvD: +55 + d100 roll: +94 = +329
... and hit for 137 points of damage!
The fire sprite is stunned!
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

You gesture.
You hurl a powerful lightning bolt at a red tsark!
AS: +455 vs DS: +359 with AvD: +45 + d100 roll: +39 = +180
... and hit for 45 points of damage!
Light shock to abdomen. That stings!

You hurl a powerful lightning bolt at a fire sprite!
AS: +455 vs DS: +297 with AvD: +51 + d100 roll: +94 = +303
... and hit for 273 points of damage!

The fire sprite goes limp and she falls over as the fire slowly fades from her eyes.

You gesture at a fire mage.
You hurl a stream of water at a fire mage!
AS: +440 vs DS: +333 with AvD: +55 + d100 roll: +81 = +243
... and hit for 107 points of damage!
Hard strike removes the right eye and a goodly bit of skull!

The fire mage looks upon you with utter hatred. Flames shoot from her eyes and engulf you!
... 5 points of damage!
Minor burns to left arm. That hurts a bit.

The fire in the fire mage's eyes slowly fades away.

After:

You gesture at a fire sprite.
You hurl a stream of water at a fire sprite!
AS: +429 vs DS: +303 with AvD: +30 + d100 roll: +90 = +246
... and hit for 103 points of damage!
The fire sprite is knocked to the ground!
The fire sprite is stunned!
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

You gesture at a fire sprite.
You hurl a powerful lightning bolt at a fire sprite!
AS: +429 vs DS: +253 with AvD: +50 + d100 roll: +56 = +282
... and hit for 232 points of damage!

The fire in the fire sprite's eyes slowly fades.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

You gesture at a fire mage.
You hurl a stream of water at a fire mage!
AS: +429 vs DS: +341 with AvD: +30 + d100 roll: +45 = +163
... and hit for 42 points of damage!
Good blow to right leg!
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

You gesture at a red tsark.
You hurl a powerful lightning bolt at a red tsark!
AS: +429 vs DS: +364 with AvD: +39 + d100 roll: +23 = +127
... and hit for 17 points of damage!
Light shock to right arm. That stings!
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

So far, on non armored creatures like sprites, minor water's AvD has dropped from a +55 to a +30, a -25 drop, and major shock's AvD has dropped from a +51 to a +50, a -1 drop.

On tsarks, which have natural protection, major shock's AvD has dropped from a +45 to a +39, a -6 drop.

Very interesting.

That happened a while ago in rotting corpses as well.

The gods told me to compare the new avd to armor and it was determined they changed the corpses from wearing robes to now wearing brig class robes.

It was highly annoying as before you could use 903 once or twice and kill one, but now you have to use one or two shots of 906.

I won't even touch the topic of putting roa'ters in there.

Fire mages and fire sprites were far to easy for the wizard class anyway..I pulled out 400 mill fame in there between level 70-97... i mean one shot kills at that level shouldn't exist in my opinion.

Certain circumstances that most people do not deal with will not allow the average guy to get 400m fame in that time though. I personally thought that they were fine how the were, but whatever.

Yep, a majority of the AvD's have been adjusted for our spells. Damage factors appear to be the same, although I was just checking off that one post against the rats - haven't checked all armors yet.

AvD for ASG0 'no armor':

For comparison, coldball losing 36 AvD represents 24 raw damage and 4 less crit ranks (ASG0 - no armor), so a pretty significant change.

Overall, not drastic but significant changes. You will pick up an extra 15 DS against those vicious 906 casting fire mages - so it ain't "all bad" news here.

I did not test acid. I recently asked for AvD information on that spell because I didn't have it - now, its prolly gone forever! Oh well...

The armor class for the creatures hasn't been changed. The spell's AvD against all armor classes has changed. This has nothing to do with fire mages or the Lower Eye, it's a universal change that will effect every wizard in some way.

Well damn thats annoying.

I tried it out and it takes more mana to kill stuff. So when are we going to see better skill growth to compensate?

My precious mana is now being thrown away.

Wait till the rift. No more bolting. Just use 409, 415 and 917. I don't like it at all. That is why I stopped hunting pretty much and made a youngin. Now we get downtweaked again. I never wanted to hunt like a Sorc.

Plane 2 I fill my head with almost 700 mana and wrack after I run out to. That almost gets me fried. I got a better CS then most mages my age. Plus Caeds and Seras bolt ds are way to high. Seras I can't touch with a bolt. Caeds I knick. I will go bolt hunting if I ever return to the rift and show examples.

Plus, I will swing at a witch and die a few times. Their swing ds gets over 500 on the ground and tremors will not knock them down.

It's so pathetic that I can't tell you what my bolt AS is anymore. Now we are tweaked down yet again.

I wondered why corpses suddenly became harder to crit. I do have to admit, I would fry quickly, and have a good amount of mana left after each hunt. But now, I can barely fry because I run out of mana. So now I get to buy wands! Joy! And yes, I am just one train from going to warhorses, thanks for giving me hope with that post Buckwheet!
