Clouding?

Just how effective are cloud spells for the wizard? Mine will be learning 913 and 914 next train, so I'm pretty curious.

Wizards seem to hunt zombies and krolvin with 913 a lot, are there any other critters 913 is good with? reg

Never, ever, ever in my many years of hunting zombies as Voln's slave, have I ever seen a wizard use 913 to kill something. Minor fire absolutely REAMS zombies anyway, and you can get two casts of that for the price of a long, time-consuming cloud.

I used to occasionally see wizards using it in the Krolvin mine, but not anymore. I'm almost 100% positive all the wizard cloud spells received a downtweak sometime pretty recently, so don't expect anything too great.

Clouds are useless, period.

Meteor swarm and fire cloud are so incredibly fun and powerful.

Far from useless.

I still maintain clouds are useless, as is meteor swarm.

Well they sure served me well in pyrothags, against the illoke, in firemages, in the rift, invasions.

Not deathcloud or firecloud, they had modifications made to them, but none involved how effective they were, just some bugs were fixed with how firecloud and death cloud moved from room to room.

Yep... death cloud sure was great to use in warfarers. Just cast one, lay down, and let the warfarers walk into the room stacking up on each other. For 13 mana you can kill 3-4 or them and not twitch a muscle.

Here's some of my casts against silverback orcs. It seems pretty viable so far, I may start to just cloud hunt rather than swing. Slow, but at least there's no danger.

------
The gas cloud begins to shake with uncontrollable power...
Suddenly, a bolt of energy arcs out of it and strikes at a silverback orc...
... 60 points of damage!
Electric shock causes a strong enough convulsion to snap the silverback orc's neck.
A silverback orc curls up in the snow and dies.

... 30 points of damage!
Electric blast goes right to the heart! Fibrillation can be fun.

For every 1 deatch crit there were about 3 other strikes where they were stunned for 2-3 rounds repeatedly. reg

Here's more clouds vs. cold guardians:
-----------
The gas cloud begins to shake with uncontrollable power...
Suddenly, a bolt of energy arcs out of it and strikes at a cold guardian...
... 25 points of damage!
The cold guardian is stunned!

>search gua
You search the cold guardian.
It had some double leather.
It had 45 silvers on it.
You gather the remaining 45 coins.
It had nothing else of value.
A cold guardian turns to dust.

You feel a sudden chill from behind. You spin around to see a cold guardian floating nearby.

Death Cloud is VERY effective on humanoid critters with no padding. Try using it on krolvin, hooded figures, rotting corpses and the like and you'll crit them in one shot towards the end when your cloud is most powerful.

It's a good spell for when you're young and on low mana. Turn 13 with that spell and you can zip up to 35 just by hunting only krolvin and hooded figures with it (then head to sand devils till 60, hehe). While waiting around using your cloud in hooded figures though, use spell store and store a 1 mana spell for when they dispell you.

Hahaha! I love how you just nod at a newly genned guardian. I can just picture you smirking and then nodding to it right before it gets the shock of its life.
