Our Landing

Just curious to see what others think are the major problems affecting our landing.

I've seen people doing mass coin shares left and right. I've seen other people, such as Kalvinne doing "find me" games for younger people and giving them a _lot_ of money. I think things like that are great for the younger community in the landing. I know it's helped me out.

One thing that did bother me is that everything is so overpriced now it's ridiculous. 4x is going for 400-500k, 3x you can sell for 200k now... For a decent set now you have to dig pretty deep into your bank account and most don't have that.

Any thoughts out there? reg

yea, here's a thought for you... about 5 years ago I bought my first set of 4x leather at the age of 22, it was the first time i'd seen any for sale... I paid 800k for it at Giantsheild's auction.

Yikes, did you agree with it or did you think it was too much? reg

Yeah, that's one of the things that makes me hate the economy so much right now.

Take for instance 'fel-hafted rolaren toporoks', 4x axes with rolaren breakage. Average price that I saw off the amunet is around 400k.

You can buy vultite axes with slightly less strength right off the shelf new for about 60k. So you're paying roughly 6 times as much for a toporok compared to a vultite axe. People just have to have their fluffy names.

The armor problem can be directly attributed to the halt on enchanting. With no new items entering the system (aside from occasional merchants) the prices can only go higher as the demand increases.

The old rule of thumb for buying wizard enchanted armor (doubling the price; i.e. 1x = 25k, 2x = 50k, 3x = 100k and so on) can no longer be used.

I bought a set of 4x brigandine, the kind that shifts colors when you tap it around 3 months ago. The seller asked for 400k, and since there was virtually no other armor being sold I had to pay it. Now I'm seeing them sell for 600k.

With the upcoming festivals this weekend expect to see the items from there being sold for upwards of 4 times their original price within a few months.

An item is only worth what people will pay for it, and with supply and demand being out of whack for higher enchants.

Of course, other stuff is out of whack too, as stuff gets changed. Anything elven is worth big bucks simply because they won't make elven items anymore.

Until people stop paying the high prices, causing the market to lower prices, things won't change.

High enchants aren't in high demand.. mid and low level enchants are.. Go try and sell some 10x.. you probably wont even get a thought unless your selling for like 10m or less

Well back then Dustin, I wasn't thrilled with the price, but I'd have gone higher if I needed to. Like I said, it was the first set I ever saw for sale (believe me I looked a lot) I think I was in 2x full then, hunting Ghoul Masters in their old 2 room hunting ground. Those were the days.

I remember for the longest time 3X was the highest enchant people had I have no idea why but no one would enchant higher on their own. Even though lots of people like Dart Tedra, Kodos, Odd, Etc. easily could. I think they just didn't want to give out things so ""powerful"" 4X could go for 800K no problem. Although he forgot to mention money was a lot differant back then. Some of you probably remember titans. Well a long time ago they used to be by the AI with the hill trolls. I remember I was a lvl 8 warrior and I killed a titan searched its body and got 8K coins off the search. I used to get boxes with like 20K off those lvl 2 spectral fisherman. So people had a lot more money.

I was too stupid to really capitalize on money unfortunately. I ALWAYS group hunted... I used to collect and sell double chain from ghoul masters to raise cash. This was back on AOL after it went unlimited so the cash wasn't insane.
