As of a few hours ago, a change or bug became implemented in the skinning/casting code.

If you have wounds on your hands (any wounds or scars) you cannot cast or skin. Also eye wounds/scars and head wounds I believe are also making it impossible to cast.

I haven't actually run into the problem yet, but from what I've heard on the boards and in game, this is a big change.

More news as it comes.

>health
You have some minor cuts and bruises on your right hand.
You have a scar across your face, and an old battle scar across your chest.

Maximum Health Points: 156
Remaining Health Points: 156

Maximum Spirit Points: 10
Remaining Spirit Points: 10

You concentrate on the Spirit Warding I spell...
Your spell is ready.
>cast
You gesture.
A light blue glow surrounds you.
(Forcing stance down to guarded)
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

I skinned something later on, too.

*shrug* Everything's working fine for me. Is it only certain professions? Or maybe it's been fixed already.

According to Platinum players this not a bug but a feature.

The feature is that if you have a rank 2 injury on your neck, head, or either arm or eye you will not be able to search or cast.

That is an awful change if you have one rank 2 injury on an arm and can't cast. I can understand the other situations, but arm bleeders are so ridiculously common. Can we promote empath slaving a bit more? reg
40$ a month, and i cant cast if i have an arm bleeder...

People who pay $10 a month can't cast with an arm bleeder either... I really don't see what this has to do with anything.

I may have to move this to the mechanics or concerns folder since this isn't really news but a change people have to work around. I'll see how the thread goes. reg

Make that spellcasters and empaths who have to work around it since it doesn't seem to affect squares using their weapons and shields with a broken arm.

I'd like to have explained what kind of envolved physical process the staff invisions spell casting as being.

Does this penalty hold true for creatures also?

Kind of off-topic, but I always found it interesting (annoying) that although creatures couldn't cast spells when missing a right arm, they were still able to use their full parry. reg

My magic 8-ball said "Reply hazy, try again", then I shook it once more and it said "Outlook not so good."

So no, I think creatures will still be able to cast with arm/head/eye/nerve wounds. According to staff, they're 'not the same as player characters'.

But that's a very important point Desmonique brought up, and one that completely slipped my mind. Just how exactly will this affect empaths? reg

Sorry gang, gonna move this over to concerns cause this ain't news that wounds and actions are all screwy. ::dimples:: reg
