Inferno Promotion Extended Again!

The promotion previously mentioned in an older post has been extended.

Summary:

From now til September (I don't remember if that's the beginning or end, www.ke9.com has the details), any *active* GemStoneIII player who wishes to play Inferno is entitled to a build transfer.

What this means...

You'll get "x" number of builds (similar to training points since Inferno doesn't work on a level system) for each level of your highest level GemStoneIII character. The "x" differs based on whether you create a fighting character or a crafter character.

If your highest level character is fairly low, you can opt instead for a flat-build award. For fighting characters it's 1000 builds, for crafter characters it's 500 builds.

The condition: That you pay 6 months in advance ($120) and let admin know your intention prior to the expiration date.

Attention all Role-Players! We'd love to see you in our RP-intensive world.

For details go to www.ke9.com and read the manual. Heck, read it anyway, it's interesting!

By the way, anyone who joins because of this post, feel free to put "BagLady" into the referral space on your application.

Just want to keep this category open, since it's now in a new home on Buckwheet's new boards!

Read the previous post to find out what this is all about, then hop to www.ke9.com and check out the bottom of the website for details about the promotion.

While you're at the website, anyone who is interested in a trial account PLEASE read the "Quickstart" first! You'll just get frustrated if you don't, because everything you need to know about RP and mechanics in Inferno is right there.

UID Baglady for anyone who wants to put something in the referral box on the account application

Good god, how long has this been going on, and how long until it stops (referring to the promotion)? reg
If you are impatient and want these promotions to go away, I'm sorry but that's not in my control. I just pass the word because the Inferno staff asked the players to make sure we let people know they could still take advantage of it if they wanted to.

Judging by the ongoing influx of new players - most of whom come from Gemstone, I'd say the promotion is pretty successful so far. So maybe you are tired of reading about an Inferno promotion in the Inferno topic, but apparently the people who have come to the game as a result of these posts are not. (A hint: this category is specifically about Inferno, so if you have no interest in it, you can just skip the entire category. I promise none of us will be offended.)

Remember just because you don't see a bunch of posts from a bunch of people about something, doesn't mean no one's reading it.

Now if you have something constructive to add, or a question to ask about the game, by all means. Several of us Inferno players read these boards and would be more than happy to answer any questions or address any concerns.

In fact, the moderator of this topic, Malifax, is one of the admins of the game.

And I thought I was the moderator of this topic, and I could've sworn this folder was off-topic...

Man of many opinions reg

Woops sorry Fralcon, the two Unofficial GS boards look so much alike now I forgot I was on Buckwheet's!

Correction: Fralcon is the moderator here. Malifax is the moderator on the other one.

This *is* the off-topic category, but this is also the Inferno folder. And Inferno is certainly off-topic in other categories, which is why the folder is here instead of one of the other categories.

Judging from who wrote the original post, Taernath, I can almost say 100% that he did not mean his post in a mean way. More like, I keep reading about this thing, WOW how long are they going to keep it up?

In fact,Yea, we can skip posts, I just wish they had a button to ignore posters. OH GOD, the more I think about it, I'd kill for one of those. reg

It was the "how long until it stops?" that caught me Cass. Like when you're on a roller coaster that is making you ill (never happens to me, I love the things!) and all you want to know is "how long until it stops?" When I'm enjoying something I don't ask that. I ask how long will it continue, not when it will end - because if I'm enjoying something, chances are I don't want it to end.

That's why I was surprised and asked if that's what he meant at the very start of my response.

The idea for a ignore poster button has come up numerous times in the UBBDev. However they have not been able to get it to work properly.

I am hoping that the hack will become availible at a later date.

Buckwheet reg

Actually yes, it was more along the lines of what Cassi said. If I remember correctly, this promotion has been going on for several months now, and has been continually extended from its original 30 day(?) deadline. I was just wondering if this 'temporary' promotion will ever truly end?

Again, no offense intended. reg

Well my apologies then Taernath. Like I said, the wording of your post caught me by surprise. We Inferno players are pretty protective of our game

The promotion began the beginning of April I believe, expiring at the end. It was then extended to end the May 30. That was just 2 months, with one extension. Admin felt it fairer for the sudden influx of late-comers to extend it further, and this second extension will expire the end of August.

There's also a new part of the billing system, which I don't remember posting.

Anyone who needs to take a few months away from the game but wants to retain their character's existence can pay only $5/month during the period they're away. I knew there's lots of people in Gemstone who for whatever reason just wanted to take time off, and had to pay the full price to guarantee their character would be there when they came back. Such was the case in Inferno, until this new policy became effective.

Unlike Gemstone however, Inferno *does* purge characters after awhile. Reason being, they sometimes take those characters and turn them into NPCs once it's clear the player won't take it back again (a reroll for example - means the player has given up the character).

With the $5/month retention fee (instead of the usual $20/month playing fee), you can still log in, check your mail, catch up on the boards, assist or report to speak with a GM. You just can't get through the arches to gen a character or play the game. It's kinda like a voluntary consultation lounge, except the Inferno "lounge" is 10 rooms big, with OOC forums when the Admin has major announcments to discuss with the player base, and the players can hang out and chat with each other out of character.

Just to remind y'all that the promotion is still going on. We've gotten a lot of new people, but as in all business promotions, you get a few who just want the free trial simply because it's "free" with no intention of sticking around or making an attempt to really dig into the game.

We also have a lot of folks who have decided to stay, so if you give it a shot you might find some folks you know! Besides - I'm there, so it must be good.

Roberta smiles sheepishly and slinks away.
