MUD's

I recently was shown a new MUD, but I ended up having to play it through the website.

Is there anyway I can use the Wizard FE to play another MUD? Or some other better interface?

Thanks reg

Seeing as your quitting, what's the mud?

Zmud is an alternative. reg

There are a couple of games online that are accessable only via their own website front end. In otherwords, their "world" exists as HTML and Java code, which is unsupported by telnet clients.

If the MUD you're playing, or any MUD, is accessable via a telnet client, I recommend ZMud. You can download it at www.zuggsoft.com and they have a 30 day trial period, after which you have to pay $25 to register it. Once registered, all updates and upgrades and security patches are free.

If you don't wanna pay anything, ZMud has an unsupported version (I think it's 3.4?) that isn't registerable. But if anything goes wrong with it, or your computer as a result of using it, they won't help you out. The old version is actually pretty stable, but if you are using a cable modem or DSL DEFINITELY use a firewall. Telnet probes can get through the old ZMud, but the new one comes with a security patch.

How to tell if the game is accessable via telnet:

If on the website it offers an IP address and Port, it's a telnet-accessable game.

It might look like this:

KewlMud.com: 2000

or 123.12.1.123: 2000

I had heard of www.zuggsoft.com from a friend earlier, but when I tried to goto it, I couldn't get the site to come up, and neither could my friend.. Was weird. Worked fine from your link though. reg
