Bows and Crossbows

Would someone be willing to give me a general idea on the difference of the bows and crossbows? For example, which does more damage, why, and all that stuff. Does a Composite bow hit harder then a heavy crossbow? That type of thing. I've been searching and can't seem to find any info on the various types.

Thanks in advance!

You can find that very info 2 posts down in my post that outlines the damage factors of various bows.

A more indepth analysis however would take some time, but if you just want a general idea check out the post on damage factors.

The following is a table of damage factors using the various bows:
BowDMF Skin Soft Scal Chain Plate
HeavyB .425 .325 .375 .285 .175
Light-B .350 .300 .325 .275 .150
Short-B .325 .225 .275 .250 .100
Compo .350 .300 .325 .275 .150
Long B .400 .325 .350 .300 .175

So basically the damage a bow/crossbow goes in this order: Heavy Crossbow, Long Bow, Composite and Light Crossbow tie for last. Alright, got it. Thank you for letting me know, I didn't even see your other topic about this.

I got some questions bout bows and crossbows.

For crossbows, is it possible to get a cocking rt lower than 6 seconds? I been playing my friends 7 train halfling rogue archer, his cocking time is between 6-10 seconds when unencumbered.

For longbows, my friends halfling archer has a 91 strength, 0 bonus. His firing rt with a long bow is 6 seconds. Will this ever go down? What affects the rt, is it ranged ranks, strength stat, dex and reflex?

I do believe strength bonus has something to do with long bow RT. My archer has a strength of 71 with a bonus of a whopping 1 has a 7 RT for her long bow. However when I have someone cast strength on her, she's down to 5. I'm hoping that once her strength gets into the 90's her RT will reduce. reg

Every 10 strength bonus takes off 1 second of roundtime with a bow. Also the minimum cocking roundtime for a heavy crossbow is 6 seconds, and I think 3 for a light one.

A halfling rogue archer with a 0 strength bonus is the same as one with a 5 strength bonus. However, with a 5 strength bonus, if you have the spell Strength on, it adds +15 for a total of +20 which takes off 2 seconds as opposed to 0.

A long bow's base roundtime is 7 seconds so with that spell on and a 100 in strength, a halfling's minimum long bow roundtime is 5 seconds without aiming. A composite bow would be 1 more second off, and a short bow would be 2 more seconds off compared to a long bow. Let's also not forget that Phoen's Strength adds a +10 bonus as well for another 1 second off firing time.

I will be doing a more indepth analysis that takes into account the +50 AS bonus from a crossbow, round time to consider damage rates, and AvDs. Just give me some time and I'll have the information available.
