Simucon 2002

I know its early to be even talking about Simucon 2002.

But I have thought about it a lot lately and I am seriously thinking of going next year. I know some of you folks go and I was wondering if anyone has thought about going next year.

I will of course try and register as Buckwheet....but if not I will have to pick something else.

Let me know if you are thinking of going.

Buckwheet reg

I went in 2000 and had a great time meeting folks. I paid for 2001 but could not make it, but I am aiming for the next one too.

Askip reg

Ya Buckwheet you should go nxt year..I went this year and had a pretty cool time. Talked a lot to people who I don't really talk to much to outside the game and they were friggin funny as hell.

I am hoping to go. I gotta know when it will be in long term advance though, so that I can put in a request for leave to attend. How much do they generally charge for tickets?

Hrm. I plan on going, got a few people I wanna meet, plus it sounds fun. :P
reg
I live 3 hours away. But seriously think I am not going. Got 8 weeks off in the summir and want to head out of the country for the whole time.

Plus, I stopped drinking. Not by choice. So pointless to go unless I can get trashed. Not a party if you don't party.

Big warning. Seminars really truely suck. Make promises they don't keep. Make deadlines they don't keep. I asked about what they planned to do about GM corruption. We don't know of any GM corruption was the answer.

Worst one that I went to was the clerics seminar. Ophion was a total prick. You ask him a question and he says 'no'. A lot of people got pissed off over that.

Lots of people just get a room to hang out. They don't bother signing up.

I enjoyed the drinking at night and going all over St Louis during the day. Was disappointed there was no Cards game going on when I was there last time.

Ooh! Boomsplat is a DJ at a topless joint. You need to go there. I just couldn't wake up early enough to go last year. Also, if you are female. They got amatuer night.

::cough::

Also. If a Herc & Zena woman tells you to lick her sword. RUN! Krystic and I are still tramatized from the Zena woman flashing us.

Go to have fun. Don't have any expectations about the seminar's. You really don't come back with any new knowledge. Only stories to tell your grandchildren.

The exact date won't be known until they post it, but they always give many months notice. The price starts at about $150-175. and goes up the longer you wait. reg
Main reason I wanted to go is so that I can talk to people face to face, maybe shake someone's hand and let em know that I am a person as well.

I also wanted to go because I am hoping some people from here are planning on going and that we can sit around and talk about how to keep the PC moving forward and actually "listen" to people's opinions.

Also I would be interested in talking to a few GM's if they would allow it, but probably not since most people are there to have fun, I don't think me quizing them about things will be real hot. I guess I am looking to go as kind of a investigative reporter.

Maybe thats bad of me.

SimuCon is worth it. I went four years? Five? four. five? gah I don't remember.

All the years except last year. (that was really hard for me to do too)...

Meeting the GMs is enlightening, you have them all drawn up as some vile creature and find out they are human, and bleed..and drink...a lot

Meeting the Simutronics office staff is also interesting (not quite as, but noteworthy)..

Its a good time, everyone is so different but all in love with the same game...even if its a love/hate thing..

reg

I haven't gone to a Simucon yet, but I have met some people from gemstone before in real life. I want to go to Simucon, I think it would be very interesting to meet the people I see as text everyday. Also, getting lit up like the chinese new year would be fun, too.

Addicted.

I always have wanted to go to simucon too but 175 bucks is a lot of money to some of us plus taking off work and all the other things. Also my dog would miss me.

Might be fun. Get drunk with the same people my characters get drunk with? I can go for that. Walk into seminars with a notepad and post on the official boards a year later "What happened to 1-4 weeks?" I can go for that too. Make loud noises at 8 AM in front of hung-over GMs? Works for me. Say "Hi, I'm Specto" to members of the Player's Corner? (At least those who will say who they are and won't throw their beer at me) Might be interesting.

Coming up with 150-200 greenbacks? Eww. reg

I'll be there. reg
You are always there.

reg

p.s. Anyone attending Vegas Con this year?

<snicker>

reg

I'm pretty certain I'll be there...

Trying to work a miracle for Vegason but doubtful.

Ryan (Krylan) reg

I'd like to make it to Vegas, but I am not sure anymore.

Coupled with the fact I don't really feel comfortable flying across the country right now -- I just got a new car and the payments w/ insurance will definately get in the way. We'll see.

I sort of doubt it now.

Be the third year I've missed it.

How bizzare, is this taking the place of SimuCon?

You heard about this?

http://www.dreamscapecruises.com/simucruise/ reg

I heard about it, but it's not really taking the place of Simcon since it's only for a weekend and very few lectures. It's almost like Vegascon.. one more way to get together and meet gamers.

I wouldn't mind going, since I'm a BIG fan of cruises. I just don't have the funds or the time yet. reg

It's quite possibly the most expensive Carnival Cruise I've ever seen...

I wonder how the one Gemstone gal can afford to go.

reg

Ooo I know I know! ::giggles::

Anyway, for that price, I better have Antonio Banderas permantly planted in my bed 24/7 for the entire time of my stay! reg

This could be fun, in theory. But there was a link up at one point that advertised something along the lines of "Simu-Mon" -- a Jamaican getaway -- that sounded a lot more appealing.

It was a week at one of those "everything included in one price" resorts where all food, drinks, scuba diving, golf, tennis, and other activities fell under the umbrella of the room rates... which were pretty decent. According to the resort web site, the "bars" at the resort stay open as long as there's someone present who wants to be served.

In the four days I spent at the last Vegascon, there were con attendees in Nefertiti's Lounge virtually 24/7. One of my most perverse memories of the Con involved watching Bush's inauguration on the bar's big screen-TV... still awake after thirty hours straight... while swilling Mai-Tai's from towering Pharaoh glasses (seven bucks and endless dirt-cheap refills... what a bargain!) with other sleep-deprived souls.

The "unlimited free drinks" part... I had to chuckle at that one. I couldn't envision a scenario in which the resort could actually turn a profit with that proviso in effect.
