Are any Gemstone folks going??

I saw the info on the simucruise in October and was wondering if more GS people are going. I'd sure hate to sign up and get stuck on a boat for 3 days with all of those DR people. Come on GS! Since i live 30 min from the port i might just sign-up, if more GS people are going.

Nope.

According to your link, here are the people currently signed up to go from GS:

Ryllina
Augie & Washee
Rethis
Dancing wolf

I won't be attending. In October, I'd rather be going on the Love Boat than on a Simucruise... reg

Big surprise there.

I got no dukes. reg

My new personal concept of hell is being trapped on a boat for days surrounded by DR folks and having no means of escape.

Plus - for the buckages, I can go to Vegas or New Orleans or somewhere interesting, and be in a nice hotel room rather than a stuffy little box.

(thinks the DR people exist to make the GS people look normal) reg

Stuffy little box? ::laughs:: The box is bigger than three football stadiums. That's around 5 New York City blocks. The equivalent of half a New England apple orchard.

You could pretty much be on that boat and never even SEE a DR player unless you intentionally go where you know they'll be.

If you're not into the idea of gathering with the DR folks, I *highly* recommend a cruise on another date. There is absolutely nothing in the world like it. Ylena - darlin dear - concierge service. Shopping. Not just shopping - DUTY FREE shopping. Emeralds and Chocolate Suisse liqueur with the little itty bitty bitter chocolate bits floating along the bottom. 24/7 food - try ANY restaurant in ANY hotel - go down to the main dining room the same time every morning, and see if you get not only the same waiter, but the waiter knows what you want, and has it delivered to you fresh, ready, and piping hot (or icy cold depending on what you want) while you're still in the process of sitting down. EVERY morning.

Dancing and drinking your brains out. Gambling in the casino. Hell there's even shuffleboard and bingo for the geriatric crowd!

Snorkling off of three completely different islands in three consecutive days.

I'm telling ya - there is NOTHING like it in the world.

-Two-time cruiser and looking forward to the third (hopefully for our 15th anniversary). reg

I blieve the stuffy box comment was towards the cabin, which is about the size of my grandmother's walkin closet.

However.. I love cruises. My whole family does, actually, especially my parents. They have gone on them so many times that they don't even get off the boat anymore. They just sleep, eat, shop, watch the shows and relax. It's the best kind of vacation.

With that said, this is rather overpriced for any cruise. MAYBE if lots of my friends were going I'd make the attempt, but since I know zero people going, I'm not going to bother. I'd rather spend the money on visiting my folks back home. reg

I agree, it's definitely overpriced. In the usual SimuCons they have to hire the hall and pay for the few meals everyone eats together. On a cruise, food is included in your cabin fee anyway, so there's no extra charge to Simutronics for that.

As for the little bitty rooms, I wouldn't know. Our honeymoon cruise we got a deluxe cabin with our own private balcony, a marble bathroom with full-sized tub, and a sitting area beyond the bed toward the balcony doors. On our second cruise we got a "deluxe outside room," and while the window didn't open up, it was a gorgeous view, and we had plenty of room to move around in.

Just don't *ever* get a room lower than the 5th deck or an "inside" stateroom and you should be fine. reg

Ya know, we did a cruise to Mexico for my bachelorette party and I didn't really enjoy it... I mean, I enjoyed the party and Mexico (I faintly remember being tossed up into the air at some bar and missing a shirt when I came back down)..

But the rocking of that boat went from scary 'we are going to tip over', to nauseating....the cabins are so small! The pools were nice, the bingo was fun The drinks were HELLAEXPENSIVE!!!!!!, our cabin boy (Garth) was difficult to understand, the dance floor was cramped and crowded...

The food, however, was delicious.

I'm not sure I'd do that again, if I did, I would go with my hubby and rent a suite instead of a cabin near the bar...

Maybe for our anniversary...

(bringin it home)
But definately not with a bunch of DR folk ...
