Evil in Platinum

It is just too ungodly hard to play evil in platinum.

It's not as if I don't understand *HOW* to play evil. The best way to play evil is to be utterly convinced you aren't.

But when you're young, and you have to rely on goody goody empaths and clerics, it's next to impossible. There may be some out there not so goody goody, but I don't know who they are yet. Oh well.

And it's just plain impossible to be evil in the park. Period.

I'm so annoyed.

Ya it can be difficult, you have to learn to be very self reliant, and put yourself in hunting situations where the possibility of death is very slim.

Mike reg

You forgot to mention having a cleric you also control on another account to raise your sorry backside when everyone else blacklists you.

Have a happy day! reg

Well thats not really the truth, my girlfriend happened to log in and I mentioned to her I was dead so she helped me out. reg

Hey! I may WANT to play evil but I do have my own particular brand of ethics to follow.

That's cheating to me... where's the fun in being even the littlest bit evil if you can't bring yourself to suffer any consequence?

So you want to be evil.. you're now just like every other person in the landing... ENJOY! reg

Dustin playing an evil character in platinum versus prime is dramatically different. In prime where the population is huge, its only in an extremely rare case where you can't find someone to heal/raise you. In platinum your name gets around fast and everyone knows or has heard of everyone. Therefore the risk is a lot greater if you choose to play an evil character. I personally never intended to play an evil character, but Zarosa was perceived by others to be evil through his actions. Also with droppage in plat, you risk losing everything you have on you, every time you die.

I played plat for awhile, didn't like having nobody ever around so I quit.

If it was worth the extra money I would probably go back and give it another shot but I'm getting bored with gemstone again, took me about 3 weeks to title and now I'm all burnt out.

Did it ever occur to you that titling in 3 weeks might not be the smartest idea ever? Congratulations. You have yourself to thank for being burned out.

Thanks so much for your constructive post.

Your comment had nothing to do with the point of this particular thread, but I'm hoping some lurker out there found it helpful.

Very true. I'm re-evaluating how I want to manage a Platinum character. I've also reawakened my old character from prime who's been dormant for quite a while. So I may spend more time in Prime than I thought.

I would like to think some of you might know his name, but I won't mention it here . He dates back a ways.

I really like the fact that these boards exist. I know it gets less traffic, but regardless it's good for me as my account name is my main character's name and would be posted in the boards. Unlike many posters who make their characters public knowledge, I think anonymity goes a long way toward lending your posts some credibility.

I wonder how much trouble it would be to get my account name changed? I should look into it.

Also, another question in relation to Platinum: Are there ever any events in Platinum that require RL cash? I'm thinking not but I wonder what people currently think on the topic (if anything) or what any GM's have previously posted (or not) regarding the issue.

Are there just as many events in Prime that require RL cash as there used to be? I haven't been back long enough to form an opinion yet.

As far as changing the account name goes, it can be done, but, from personal experience I do not recommend it.

In terms of getting it done, all I had to do was to call the customer service and ask.

Everything was well until I discovered that I could no longer enter my house in Icemule. It is possible that since then (about a year ago) the bug was fixed, but I would imagine that it's not a priority when so many things need to be worked on.

In any case, I had to call and ask to change the account name back to what it was. I think there was something else that I couldn't do because of the name change, but I can't remember it now.

I would suggest creating a new account and transferring your character(s) across, unless of course you have a premium house or don't want to loose your premium account history (first year gift, etc.)

Welcome back and I hope you find much enjoyment in the game, be it Prime or Plat.

P.S. I don't think there are any paid events in Plat.

I didn't plan on that happening so fast, it just kind of did, you get on a roll and don't always want to stop. reg

We didn't have paid events before the price change. When plat cost $79.95/month we usually had most though not all of the paid events in prime ported over as "free" events in plat. Like Ebon's Gate.
Now that the price of plat has dropped dramatically, we have been informed that pay events in prime will likely also be pay events in plat, if we have them at all. Weddings in plat were free (although one still paid in game silvers). I believe now that they are the same cost as prime now. We are tending more towards having our own plat-specific merchant events now, thanks to our new plat guru, Khaladon. Last month we had a festival in the Ocatillo Zoo that contained some of the merchants who later showed up on the Ilyan Cloud and the Ale Festival.

To change your account name, just do what Tinkerbell said.. call Simu billing:

1-636-925-3172

It costs $5 to change the account name.

It costs $15 to transfer a character from one account to another.

I haven't had any problems like Tinkerbell did after changing an accounts name, so I'd just change the account name. reg

Thank you AestheticDeath, thank you Tinkerbell. I think the 5 dollars will be well spent.

Ok, I'm tired. Off to bed.
