Movies

Alright, I am wondering a few things, old favorites, new favorites, most hated, stuff like that. One movie I have seen recently for the first time is True romance. It was the director's cut, and I have to say, quentin tarantino's best movie I have seen. Very hardcore movie. Especially Gary Oldman. Must've thought it was white boy day... reg
Im lookin forward ta enemy at the gates, I'm really into those historical reinactions and junk like gladiator saving private ryan patriot all that stuff. Anyone know what its bout? Seems to me just like a sniper rollin around in WW1 Or WW2...

Three days ago I found A near mint condition video of dead alive at video clearance center, unrated no less. Damn americans and their censorship! ::raises fist::

Enemy at the Gates was good. I'd rate it a 7 of 10.

I am looking forward to the Mummy Returns.

As for an old favorite, I've been in the mood for comedy...A movie I sincerely doubt anyone here has seen would be The Whoopie Boys. Sick, twisted, and totally vulgar, but no nudity. It's a little known flick from the early 80s with Paul Rodriguez. I laugh every time I see it.

Dark City takes the spot for my favorite movie. A dark, abstract movie with an interesting "dream world" like plot. I just absolutely loved it the first time I saw it, it's like The Matrix but with more of a Batman/The Crow look to it.

- Lord Kranar, human Archwizard reg

I have dark city, one of my favorites too, reason it might look sorta like the crow is because it was the same director.

If anyone is lookin for a good movie, I recommend anything with gary oldman.

The Mummy Returns was awesome!
Meet The parents was OK
Down To Earth was very very funny
What Women thing kind of dragged
Castaway was good
Can you tell the drive in opened for the season finally?

Ariah, the wandering minstrel reg

I enjoyed the first Mummy better, though the second was worth the cost for admission ( i got in free...). The problem lies in the "trying to be too funny while maintaining seriousness" line. The first one did a good job of walking the tighrope, while the second one fell on its face a few times. Though seeing the little gremlin guys in the jungle is almost worth the price of a ticket...

The Whoopie Boys! lol. I use to own it until my old gf threw it away. She absolutely hated it. I can't even find it anymore.

I was disappointed in the Mummy returns. just expected more I guess. But can't wait for Pearl Harbor to come out.

This weekend I am renting Demolition Man. Just been wanting to see it again for a while.

edge reg

I own demolition man, pretty good movie, for a stalone flick...

Ok, anyone lookin for movies to rent, I got a list of real good ones, and pretty good ones.

Bad boys (sean penn movie, not the martin lawrence and will smith movie)
State of grace (Sean penn and gary oldman, need I say more?)
Immortal beloved (gary oldman as beethoven)
True romance (yes I know I've already said it, but this is just a great movie)
Scarface (If you haven't seen it, SEE IT)
Taxi driver (You talkin to me?)
Dead alive, unrated version (best zombie movie ever, if you can find it)
Zombie (not as good as dead alive, but a good zombie movie nonetheless)
Romeo is bleeding (Not gary oldmans best movie, but a good movie)
Orgazmo (from the makers of southpark, crude and funny)
Meet the feebles (very funny and very crude, as well as hard to find)
Once were warriors (movie bout a very messed up family in new zealand, one of my favorites)

I got a ton more, but it is late and I need a smoke.

I always have been a big fan of The Crow. The movie never made it into the movie theater which I was extremely disapointed, but I looked at it on the brightside that I saved myself $8.50 and just bought it on DVD. If you liked the first one you will love the third one. I suggest renting it or just buying it.

Lord Deprav
One who loved the comics he read and the movies he saw of The Crow. reg

"A Knight's Tale" is thoroughly enjoyable.

I went in with low expectations and they were surpassed easily.

A fun movie that makes you just feel good. reg

Was there blood/good fight scenes? Or did it end up a chick flick?

Well its been a while since I went to the theater and there were people the age of 5 or 6 out numbering the people my age.

But I get a kick sometimes from watching a good cartoon. So I went and saw Shrek. While it was pretty funny for the most part, I think the added adult humor was great just watching the humor fly over the 5 and 6 year olds but the parents giving a good hearty chuckle.

Over all I thought the pokes at Disney were great and the voices were great.

Buckwheet reg

I give a second thumbs up to Shrek. I got a good laugh out of it, and I liked the ending.

Pearl Harbor was good. I thought it was a good blend of action scenes and storyline so that neither dragged too much, although I will say, the plot is a bit cheesy and predictable.

The Mummy didn't live up to my expectations. It had some good action, but I felt bad for the Rock. They really did a bad job with his scenes. The best part of the movie was the gremlin critters.

And it is good to hear that someone else is as twisted as I am, Edge. I also own the Whoopie Boys. I found it in the Previously Viewed section at a video store. <g>

Aerienne reg

Tomb Raiders great. Though i wouldnt take your girlfriend to it, might have a lot of jaw dropping to explain away. ("It was the special effects, honest...")

Stear clear of Moulin Rouge. Nice soundtrack, worste movie ive seen in awhile. Its wierd, really wierd. Plus its a chick flick love story mess, and a musical on top of that! double ugh...

Anybody see swordfish, thats next on the list...

I'm just passing the time until Jurassic Park 3 comes out. That's right, you heard what I said.

Still haven't seen The Mummy Returns, but am going to see Tomb Raider on thursday. reg

Movies are just too expensive to see anymore.
Although I seen Pearl Harbor and recommend it to all.

Lord Deprav
Who just waits till they come out on DVD. reg

Just download them and watch them. They're on IRC servers 2 days after they come out.

-Pirub reg

True Pirub, infact a lot of DivX movies are available before public release as was the case with X-Men and the Cell.

My problem however is finding those movies in the first place. I usually check on Kazaa or WinMX or Audiogalaxy.com, IRC was a pain for me.

- Lord Kranar, human Archwizard reg

WinMX is pretty good but it's hard to find someone who doesn't have a queue list to download from. IRC is very good if you find a reliable server. Also cerver chat rooms on AOL are pretty good because you download from AOL servers and they're rather very reliable.

-Pirub reg

Ok, Pirub and Buckwheet put your minds together on this situation. Have either of you burnt VCD's? Nindy and myself have been trying to figure it out for about 10 days. I feel so computer illiterate. Do not give me any sites to look at because they just seem to be to ignorant to me. I have 11 Nirvana videos I have downloaded. It won't let me burn them. We are using Easy CD 4.0. I think I need to change them into mpegs but I can't figure out how to do it using Easy Cd. Do either of you know how I should go about doing this or anyone at the fact. I would really appreaciate anyones help PLEASE! reg
Final Fanasy-Hate the playstation games, though loved the movie! A must see!

reg

If you have to get it to mpeg, you'd need to tell us what the format is currently. AVI, ASF etc.

-Pirub reg

I loved the FF movie. reg

First thing to do is get a program that can code an AVI into the Divx Codec...(Virtual Dub is outstanding).

Once you have the movie in Divx form, right click on the movie and check its properties. The frame rate is usually like 23.976.

Now get TMPEG or a program like that which can convert Divx into an MPEG format. This will take a long time, (8 - 10 hours on my CPU), and it fails sometimes, too.

Once the movie is in MPEG format, burn it to a CD using a program that will allow you to do so. (For more help go to http://www.vcdhelp.com ).

Make sure you have a DVD that plays VCDs on a blank CD, or you'll be wasting a lot of time.

Ok, I am not sure what format it is. I will have to look at it a little more this week. I have the program called easy cd creator 4.0. I have been using vcdhelp.com for some of my information. But I am not understanding alot of it. Its kinda like going through a maze on the website and I keep drawing blanks. Does anyone know a program I could download off the interenet that will change these formats to work. I was downloading old transformer movies, but I do not need to anymore cause I just bought the whole collection. But I do have alot of Nirvana videos and some others that I would yet like to burn on vcd. If your familar with easy cd creator 4.0, is there a program I could use to make these files into mpeg? I was using kazaa.com to download cause it appeared to be the easiest. reg
Also I think my dvd player will accept burnt cds, but if it does not I do have my dvd rom which will most definitely accept it. reg
Saw Planet of the Apes. I give it a thumbs up. They did a great job with the apes, it had an interesting plot, and you've gotta love a film with MarkyMark in it.

The graphics of Final Fantasy were great. The story left A LOT to be desired. I was very disappointed. I enjoy an intellectual film, but FF wasn't what I was expecting, and I walked out feeling let down. reg

Loved Planet of the Apes. Mark Wahlberg has really been impressing me since he stopped showing his underwear. Uh, well he showed them in Boogie Nights and then some, but uh.. that's another story.

Final Fantasy was neat to watch, but the plot and story disappointed me. I left with a rather "I was cheated" feeling.

American Pie 2 was great! I only stopped laughing to breath! Funniest movie I have ever seen. Better than the first. If your a teenager and loved the first one definitly go see the second one!

Lord Deprav reg

First American Pie was a much better film, the second one was however funnier.

- Lord Kranar, human Archwizard reg

A lot of people are saying that they were disappointed with the FF movie. With the exception of FFT, everything FF beyond SNES has been a disappointment. The only reason the games are being called FF is because they know the name will sell, not necessarily the product.

Sonic reg

Um I personally did not like 7-whatever there on(I think 9) but alot of my friends love the game. I played 7 and was very disapointed. The plots were ok, but they were so extremely easy it seemed. I know rp games are more about the plot, but give me a challenge! Although I will be excited to see Final Fanasy 11. It will only be px2, but it supposively will be a totally online game with multiple players. I love multiplayer games especially the online ones. Should be awesome.

Lord Deprav
Whom still did like the movie. reg

American Pie 2 is the best ever.
