05:49 PMI am very glad Barry Bonds broke it. Don't get me wrong I think Mark McGuire is one of the greatest sportsmen and role models in the world. But if you look through his career, since the day he has started he has always wanted the buck. Also he has always been hurt. He is not the true baseball player in my mind. Maybe this is because he won a world series at a younger age. Now Barry Bonds everyone knows has always been an arse, but he always has been a true ball player. He is in day in and day out and he loves the game. He is very competetive and just wants a world series. Before the batting title he was going to be a hall of famer, but now it is a definite. He just needs a world series.

And yes I think his record will stand for a while.
