I am a Minnesota native and out of sheer nostalgia follow the Twins when I can and even attended a game when they played the Rangers here in the DFW area.
I like the A's. Look at their record and who in their division they had to trail all season. They are a really good team. I enjoyed watching them and hope they do well. I thoroughly enjoyed the game last night.
Bleh braves. Someone pound them into the dirt... LOL!

>>I also believe they are under a great deal of pressure of late also. I would think it would be hard to maintain and work off so much raw emotion. After awhile this will wear you down to the point where the human body will suffer.<<
Exactly, Hiway--I agree with you (except for the "they had their time" part) See, I explained to that disgruntled Red Sox fan Mike the TRUE reason the Yankees won't win. Due to what happened. It's because of everything that has happened, and now with there being more threats of terrorist attacks, the MLB commission ASKED the Yankees to throw their games and not win. Think of it, if they win and bring it back to NY, do you know how PACKED Yankee stadium would be? Or if they win, the parade? All kinds of important people will be there too--all sitting ducks for whatever kind of attack. No one is trying to bomb Oakland or whatever because that place is a dump..so the Yankees--the most WINNINGEST team in baseball history said, "Okay, for the safety of New York, we will sacrifice and go a year without winning the series. It will be hard since we haven't been accustomed to losing since the 80's but, we'll do it." Hence, the only reason what is happening, is happening.
No, this isn't just an excuse to help me cope with the Yankees losing, they told me this : P reg

I wonder what those of you stricken with Yankee-envy will say if/when they pull off what I would consider to be a great comeback and win three games straight...It *can* happen, folks.
no sell out

What was it? Yankees are good? Haha?? www.therapist.com? Who came back and won three games straight?!

Knock Knock. Anyone home? It's not that you stated your love of the Yankee's that elicited the reply of www.therapist.com it's your insane assumptions that it's rigged or whatever.
As I stated I like the yankees and thought there comeback is very admirable given the caliber of play against what I think is at least the 3rd best team in all of MLB. They have overcome a lot of obstacles.
If you would read your own original posts then maybe you might catch on to the parts that make absolutely no sense...

As far as basketball dying, got to disagree with you there..especially considering that MSG (Madison Square Garden for the unitiated) stays packed pretty much all season long for the Knicks (and as much as it rips my heart apart to say this, I will) is a barely above average team, shows that basketball has many fans. I heard on the radio that they are already sold out for their opening game at the Garden against the Wizards (let's pretend Michael Jordan has nothing to do with that, either..heh)
I won't get into the "real sport" debate because I can find something about almost any sport interesting enough to sit down and watch atleast a little--even, dare I say..FISHING.
But not golf though, I hate golf

Also hockey is a very real sport. It is almost as big as baseball is. I love baseball but hockey has been around for nearly as long as baseball. It also brings in a ton more national TV coverage than baseball does.
Yah sure whatever the Knicks sell out everygame. But yah wanna know something? Those ticket sales are just to make an extra buck or two. Basketball on TV is dieing very quickly. The only reason Micheal Jordan has came back is do to the loss of interest. National TV will cover him without a doubt. I am sure ESPN has picked up a few games. And ESPN never carries NBA coverage. Maybe they sell out at their stadiums but they do not make their money becuase of lack of TV coverage and that is where money is made.
reg
You be the judge. Go to a semi pro hockey game in a town near you for really good value and then observe for yourself the entertainment value.
I think a live hockey game is one of the most entertaining events you can go to for the money.

Zanagan, good thought, although the next game the yankees planned on winning. They knew they couldn't beat schilling or johnson, so they didn't want to pitch clemns till later on. Rusval, the yanks have another thing coming. reg

Good one (wiping away a tear) reg
Well, as the old saying goes, the sun shines even on a dog's ass sometime..such was the case last night, as that one costly throw by Rivera was the nail in the coffin. I will give credit where it is due, the Diamondbacks are a good team. Next year belongs to the Yankees though, you heard it here first.
You can't win them all...but you can win most of them--who's the "most winningest team in major league baseball"?!?

No, no, Rusval, don't say that!! If that happens, who are we going to laugh at next year when the Yanks win it all?

I'm glad someone _other_ than the Yankees won.
The Yankees were the best team in baseball. And they lost.
It's the same way it used to be when I lived in Chicago. Who liked the Bulls winning all the championships all the time? No one. But they were _still_ the best. reg
