All in kidding. Seriously, I am not a fan of bravado especially in the tone and manner his opinion was written. I am just not a huge fan of people stating something they have no clue what they are talking about.

Writing checks that you can't cash comes to mind. Confidence is one thing, but ignorance seems more close to the mark.

I am just reminded of the kid in the corner who is shouting "yeah our team is going to kick your ass!" when the kid never even played the sport.

10:49 AMI have to agree with Hiway, fierce words from a non combatant. Symbolism before substance is what I see more and more and it is sad. This is probably the same individual that has an American flag hanging from his car antena, I wonder if he ever stopped to think that the American flag should not be flown at night( unless properly illuminated) or in inclimate weather ( i. e. rain) or in a place where it will become ragged and dirty( amazing what high winds and smog will do). Trashing the flag on your car or buying a pin that says God bless the USA does not make you a patriot, neither does harsh words. I can recall before the Sept 11 action my friends and strangers would say " Why are you in the military, what a waste of time." Now they go out of their way to shake my hand, what a quick turnaround that is. remember it is whats inside, actions and feelings, that make a patriot, not symbols and words that are flaunted with no real grasp of the meaning.

That aside some good points are stated in the article but then again some, as you notice from my raving, are not that good.

If my raving comes across as to strong let me know I can tone it down but every now and then I rant.

01:31 PMAs a moderator of this board Anticor let me be the first to say, the stronger the opinion the better. Anyway, what branch are you in, quite a few people on the board are current or past military people. Most notable, Hiway, a combat veteran with over 500 hours of combat flying time (I believe).

Believe me...as well as Alfador. Anyone is accepted on these boards...and the best thing about them is that the tone of your post is pretty much limitless (of course with a few TOS conditions).

Being a part of the military in times such as these is automatic recognition as well. You'll find automatic respect from anyone that I know at least. reg

I do not place the American flag symbol on anything that I feel lacks respect or class.

I fly the flag under traditional rules.

I don't want to make trivial what the flag means to me. That is me. I feel I do best representing this country by being a good citizen and doing things to help my fellow neighbors. My blood is red. My devotion is white as in purity. My blue is the uniform I wear in service.

Yeah it's cheesy, but I love it here. I have been to so many places that are really nice around the world, but I always miss home.

Hiway-no stickers, no fads on his car or home. I am in for the long haul. reg
