"Tricked out" computers.

Just curious if anyone here has experience putting in lexan windows, lights, and contollers or not.

I am looking at some winter projects and am looking for some type of mod that isn't used everywhere.

I found a mod for the DVD player and for the top of the computer as well. I might be doing something like that, but I am not sure.

My first question is, I have a Sound Blaster Live! drive. I want to paint the front of my drives to match the color scheme of my case, should I just get rid of the Live! drive or try and paint that?

Second thing is I am going to be adding a front access USB hub and a fan controler. The fan controler won't add anything to my 4 fan setup, but I am going to use it to control my lighting effects. I am looking to put a blacklight and a neon light inside.

Also I need some help finding a really nice looking orb cooler for my Athlon XP 1700.

Well anyway if anyone has had good luck with mods let me know where I can read about them, or send me the instructions.

One of the sites I really liked was www.pcmods.com

I love case modding.

I have a Juno P6 full tower that is tricked up, and a stealthed Lian-Li PC70.

The P6.

I don't really like cutting up my case sides, so I just got some clear acrylic and cut it to size, buffed the ends up, and use them as my case sides, fixed with velcro.

Inside is a blue cold cathode, which looks sweet on a night

In it is a baybus I made to control the 5 case fans. Each fan is controlled by a rheostat (like a volume control) to adjust the RPM. Blue LED's indicate which fans are on/off and an LED cluster (like those on alarm clocks) gives a readout of the current voltage on each selected fan.

I also have a 4x20 LCD mounted on the front, using LCDProd and Motherboard Manager to display system temps, time, new email, CPU load etc. It's real sweet.

The PC70.

This case is made from solid brushed aluminium alloy, not one piece is steel/plastic or painted, and it looks the mutts nuts. I have replaced the original crappy beige plastic CDROM covers with the aluminium drive blanking plates, so it basically looks just likes a box. This is the one most folk gawk at.

Wish I had a digital camera to show ya all some picks, the cases are awesome.

http://www.virtual-hideout.net/ and http://bit-tech.net/ are good places to look for stuff like this.

As for your question on the live drive, I'd either use vinyl dye to change the colour of it, or some of that Plasticote stuff, seen some really good jobs with the vinyl dye though.
