Toyota sucks

Recently Toyota effectively made available to the black community 700m dollars because Jesse Jackson threatened to start a boycott of Toyota products because they didn't hire enough black people. I, along with several of my friends and friends families have decided to boycott Toyota products in response to this. I urge everyone else to do the same and spread the word. It's absurd that the black community can get away with things like this just by screaming prejudice and racism. If companies would grow some balls and just tell morons like Jesse Jackson to go screw themselves, this type of crap wouldn't happen.

In no way shape or form am I racial Sonic...but if what you say is true, then I agree with you. I love sociology and always am looking for things to compare. One thing I do notice in a lot of movies is black people playing roles just because they are black. For example. I think Samual L. Jackson can be a great actor when he isn't playing these parts. But my friends die laughing everytime I say something of the such of Jackson. In Episode one, Jackson played to unimportant parts in the movie. He wasn't even acting very good for them. Now if you watch the full movie through you won't see another black person throughout the whole movie. Does anyone else find this rather odd especially when we all know what Jackson means to the racial blacks out there? And I have seen the second episode previews and they show at the end "Starring Samual L. Jackson." Does this mean he is going to have a bigger role? Or does this mean they are trying to be politically correct? Yah know I don't care if there were a dozen black people in that film. But there isn't and it kinda stands out a little and makes yah question. Again not trying to be racial just give me some feedback!

From what I have gathered, Sammy has a bigger role in the next Star Wars, WHICH by the way I'm completely excited about. I've seen all three teaser trailers and it looks great.

Only one black man in any Star Wars movie at a time? Let's take that one step further. Try any scifi movie. If you can mention one that has more than one black person, I'd be impressed.

The thing is, we don't know if it's because black people haven't come forth to WANT to be in those movies, or if because they weren't qualified. There aren't that many good black actors to begin with, unfortunately, because I do love Larry Fishbourne, Cuba Gooding Jr, and Denzel Washington, in addition to Samuel Jackson. Even Wil Smith is an excellent actor. Don't mention Lando though.. he was never one of my favorites.

And by the way...Boycott Toyota? And stop driving my Paseo?! Not on your life! reg

I'm not saying don't drive it, I'm just saying don't buy another one. Don't take it to a Toyota dealership when it needs work, bring it to some other place (they will do just as good a job)). Everyone who knows me fairly well knows I hate when groups of people scream discrimation. Unless you are a white male, you are not legally being discriminated against. I have stories to back this up but I'll spare them. The bottom line is I really just hate it when people try to use the 'race/gender issue' to their benefit. I hate it even more when people bow down to it and give in... Have some dignity people.

I know what you meant, I was just poking fun. But oh gawd I wouldn't go to a Toyota dealership for work on my car even if you paid me. They are way overpriced, never know what they are doing, and will try to do more to the car than it needs just to keep longer for more repairs and more money. Ew no dankoo. reg

Any chance you can post some links to this story? I moderate for another board that would be interested in discussing this

This is a preety old story, like 3 or 4 months ago.

CHICAGO (Reuters) -- The United States unit of Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday it is pledging $7.8 billion over 10 years toward improving business with minorities..

Press said the automaker will spend $700 million during the next year with minority businesses, place $100 million with minority money management companies, and expand the use of minority investment banking firms.

What a joke. By the way what boards do you moderate?

Not many black people are in to sci-fi and fantasy stuff.

I think that out of the 500ish people at the last Simucon, there were 3 black people. Vast majority of people in to fantasy gaming, sci fi and all that stuff are white. So I think most of the time when you see a black person in a sci fi film the only reason they're there is to be politically correct.

And I agree with most of what everyone else has posted here. I hate the crap black people get away under the pretense of racism. In my lifetime I've seen far more anti-white behavior than anti-black... (I grew up in Miami which is considered a cultural melting pot).

People like Jesse Jackson exist solely to enrich themselves while claiming to help their fellow blacks...

I don't drive a Toyota (I have a commie car, a Fiat...LOL), nor will I ever drive one- not because they allowed Jackson to extort money from them, but because their products don't have any personality.

So, if one minority (we call him a 'poverty pimp' here) is shaking down another minoritu, does that mean that he's run out of white people who will fall for his racist attitude?

Don't forget- Jesse Jackson is the guy who called NYC 'Hymietown' back in '84! Did the Jews go ballistic? No... a feelow liberal said it... If Reagan had said it, they would have had his head on a stake... reg

The deal fleshes out an agreement Toyota (TM: up $0.06 to $65.36, Research, Estimates) reached in June with Jackson to avoid a boycott against the automaker over a promotional postcard Toyota issued to promote the RAV4 sport/utility vehicle. The card showed a Puerto Rican man's smile with a gold miniature of the vehicle placed on one of the upper front teeth.

Egads...What the hell were they thinking?

Bleh, say what you like about their politics, they make a damn good automobile.

star TREK ... nod reg

Which Star Trek movie? reg
Had to jump on this one

Just about any Star Trek: The Next Generation movie. I think they all had LeVar Burton as Geordi LaForge and Michael Dorn as Worf.

Sorry if I spelled the names wrong.
