Rock Climbing

So I drive home from school Friday and about half-way (Knoxville) a friend calls and said there's a party. I go to the party and we're all mucking around and one of my friends tells me she's going rock-climbing the next day and wants to know if I wanna come. Sure.

So the next day, I pick her up and we drive for an hour and half out to some place in Lafayette, GA respectively named "Rock Town". I see cars from Missouri, Florida and even Ontario there at the top of Pigeon Mountain, GA. Wow... what have I gotten myself into?

My friend teaches me how to boulder and, being a really athletic person, I pick it up rather quickly. Then we move on to billeting (SP?) and repelling. Okay, I'm NOT afraid of heights, but being up 50 feet and hanging over the edge like that? I was scared as hell. After I finally did it, I realized... "Wow, this is the coolest thing I've done in a long time."

So does anyone out there climb\boulder? If not, you should definitly give it a try. That stuff is intense.

When I was 17 I went cross country climbing with a group of other teens. It was called American Trails West, an alternative to summer camp.

We started in New York State and went to most of the National Parks from there up to (but not including) California. We stayed on the east side of Yosemite Park. Climbed the Colorado Rockies, went white water rafting along the river, pulled ourselves up the National Sand Dunes, Nat'l Arches, Mt. Zion, the Badlands, etc. etc. Rode bicycles along the mountain roads as well. It was the best summer I've ever had in my life and I will never forget it!

I've never done rock climbing other than on a climbing rock. I have done rappelling tho, which is a blast. Going skids is wild. I couldn't do Australian tho, I was afraid of getting vertigo.
