Music.

I know I recall reading posts about music on these boards before, but what all music you all dig?

Zan-man and Alf know I'm completely and utterly rap affiliated, so I guess that exposes me. I really dig local rap (chatt-town rap) and Memphis and ATL stuff. Three 6 Mafia, Lil Jon, some Dre and even some Ludacris are the more mainstream joints I'm currently digging. Anyone else feel me?

If not, what you all pump?

PS: I'm not a big Bow Wow fan, but his new song "Thank You" has one of the cleanest beats I've ever heard. And gotta love a 13 year old C-walking...

I like psychobilly and old punk music. Most people don't know what psychobilly is, but it's sweet. Kinda horror/punk/rockabilly mix. My playlist seems to shift every couple weeks, lately it's mostly demented are go and the nekromantix, with some krewmen and the meteors thrown in. Psychobilly is GREAT for playin gs, try listening to I wanna kill, by demented are go, when hunting

Well, my favorite band of all time is the Smashing Pumpkins, however I'm more partial to the punk genre overall. And I am a huge fan of video game music (SNES and earlier) if you want to consider that 'music.'

Doesn't anyone listen to Last of the Mohicans or Braveheart soudtracks? Now there's real music. And let's not forget Lord of the Rings soundtrack! All well worth the purchase price. I mean, don't get me wrong, all of those other bands/songs are some of my favorite, too. reg

::raises her hand:: Guilty!

I love movie soundtracks, from Braveheart and Amadeus, to Interview with a Vampire and Sliding Doors.

I can listen to practically anything, expect perhaps rap. Not too keen on that. My CD collection has a plethora of stuff ranging from Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson to the Dixie Chicks. reg

Pearl Jam, Beatles, Springsteen, CSNY, Neil Younge, Bob Dylan, Santana, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, Billy Joel, James Brown, Creed, Bob Marley, Tragically Hip, REM and Wyclef Jean.

I think I might have multiple musical personalities.
On my play list right now I have:
Classical (London SpPachabel's Cannon in D)
Acoustic (Tenacious D, Tribute..)
Barbershop (Acoustix, Stars and Stripes Forever)
Old School (Sugar Hill Gang Rappers Delight)
New Stuff( Moby, Eve, No Doupt, Mobb Deep, Garth Brooks on occasion, etc.)

So I guess I listen to everything, all depends on the mood I am in.

Stevie Nicks, Boston, The Eagles, James Taylor...

Someone bought me the soundtrack to Braveheart one year for Valentine's Day, great music to 'play' to

reg

I loved a lot of Stevie Nicks' old stuff, when she was with Fleetwood Mac and her solo albums. I thought her new album wasn't that great though.

One of my favorite songs from her is after her period with the band though, it's on the Practical Magic soundtrack called Crystal. The music on it just sounds so mystical to me. Did you ever hear that one before?

My favorite Stevie Nicks song: Landslide. Smashing Pumpkins did a good job remaking it, too.

But I never play any of it while I'm online, it's too distracting.

I listen to music that I like, and I don't listen to music that I don't like...basically any genre

Any blind melon or meat puppets fans on here?

-Lombrosis the late poster reg

The only Blind Melon tune I ever heard was the one hit that made it to Billboard. But I really loved it, and was saddened when the news announced that one of them had died.

reg

Medeski Martin and Wood, Phish, James Brown, The Meters, Galactic, Grateful Dead, Soulive, Miles Davis and all those guys (you know who im talkin about), bjork, squarepusher, aphex twin, autechre, the beatles, Tosca, smashing pumpkins, critters buggin, radiohead, charlie hunter, Suki Takahashi(and all the local stuff around the twin cities), allman brothers band, derek trucks, the big wu, frank zappa, bob marley, sam bush band, pink floyd, hendrix, the velvet underground, fila brazillia, bullitnuts... ooo god I love music, im leaving out soo much.

-Rarnd, split open and melt reg

I usually have ska or punk in my CD player, but I'm not limited to that. reg

I collect original soundtrack recordings. I have well over 200 on vinyl and 300 on CD.

Nothing makes or breaks a movie like a good soundtrack.

After reading recieving the latest Spin magazine in the mail, I read an article about Sevendust. I never really new who Sevendust was till I seen them in concert about half a year ago. According to Spin, they have only had a couple thousand record sales. I want to encourage everyone who likes music with meaning to go out and buy the Sevendust album. I analyze lyrics as a hobby and they are one of the greatest bands of all time. If you are the kind of person who is willing to go out and try something different, give it a chance. There aren't too many bands I would come on here and say something about but I am posting this on everyboard I belong to. They are one of the coolest bands I have ever heard. If you want to hear some of their old stuff download denial/angel's son/black. They are all hits I love.

Yes.

Hearing them play Angel's Son in NYC after September 11th brought me, and most everyone else who heard it, including Lajon (the lead singer) to tears. It was far and away some of the best, most honest and most emotional music I've ever heard. If you haven't heard Sevendust, you're doing yourself a great disservice. reg
