Actually, I mis-spoke. Go ahead and make my "okay" a "really, really good, though not quite up to par with Harry Potter".

Ack! So not gonna go there. I'm gonna be a good girl and not say a word. All I'm going to say is to each his own. reg

I'll add an another "awesome" to the vote. I thought it was a very good movie.

very well done, but I found it a little bit too long.

The scenery was superb and well worth the 300 million bucks.

I just wish they won't wait untill next xmas to release the next one.

That's the plan hon. 2002 is Two Towers, 2003 is the following one, both in December.

Saw it christmas day. Best movie ever.

I've never read the book (shame on me, yeah I know) but I thought this movie was absolutely incredible.

Totally went beyond anything I was expecting. The scenery was unlike anything a movie has ever produced, and I was surprised at its rate of acceleration.

I'll add another awesome to the list.

I'm thinking of seeing it again in the theatre, which I don't normally do.

I loved the attention to detail. Awesome scenery, and they did a fantastic job of portraying the races. You really got the sense that the hobbits were short and rounded and furryfooted, and that elves were tall and slender, quick and mystical.

I cannot wait until the next one. I agree on the too long, although perhaps that is a result of seeing the 10pm show...

::coughs::

100x better than Harry Potter.

It's awesome. It's too soon to say for sure, but I think it's my favorite movie. I've seen it twice at the theaters, and wouldn't object to seeing again.

Can't wait for The Two Towers and The Return of the King.

And here I was hoping it'd go on for another hour or two.

...was definitely the shortest movie I've ever seen. I was expecting a little more than just that. reg
That movie had me on the edge of my seat, but thats cause I fell asleep like 20 times during the last hour and a half.

Harry Potter was ok just an over rated little kids movie. Lord of the rings was badass works for adults and kids but because of some of the speech and length probably wouldn't take little kids to it.
