Winter's Heart

Alright, so Im reading the new Wheel of Time book, Winter's Heart, by Robert Jordan.

I realize that pretty much every goddamn ruler, counsel, or powerful person is a woman. Except for Rand.

Far Madding Counsel (all chicks), Sea People (WaveMISTRESS, windfinders are girls), Seanchan (Empress), Aes Sedai, Aiel Wise Women, Queen of Andor, Queen of Ebou Dar, Queen, Queen, QUEEN.

Whats the deal. Common.

Finally, a man who got it right...

No not you, Robert Jordan!

The deal is, they can all use the One Power. Men go insane and kill people etc. At least, that's the pattern up to that point.

I've read all the books to this point, and I think they're okay. I'm becoming impatient, though.

Ok I read some of this, and it seems your letting your brain wander a bit... Think it over a bit more re-read some of the books and you'll see that the pattern isn't as complete as you think.

Carhien had a King, and another high ranking male official (forgot who or what) and they both vied for control. Also both died on the same night.

The Aes Sedai aren't 'females.' Aes sedai are people who can channel. In the past it took both males and females to do the greatest works they came up with. The only reason they all seem to be female now is because they tried to cull all the males who could channel from the planet. The males went mad with the taint on saiden, tearing up the world.. Yet now Rand has made the black tower, tons of males who can channel, and someday if Jordan does the book the way I forsee, they will be accepted as Aes Sedai too. Rand just cleansed Saiden. No more madness.

The Sea Folk have the Master of the blades, and the Sword masters, all males. The cargo masters I believe are males.

Most all Inn Keepers are males. Most the war leaders are males. Most of the places up around the blight are led by males. Kings, generals etc.. Amadicia seems to be pure males except for servants. All the white cloaks... Ships are referred to as male, not female. The forsaken had more males than females, just because males are usually stronger in the power. The Creator and the Dark One are both genderless? as far as I can tell. The stone in Tear is led mostly by males. All the warders are male for a very long time, up to the point where Birgette enters.

The trend of leading females isn't because of the ability to wield the One Power, but could I guess be because of the feeling of safety in women, as they didn't go crazy from the taint. The Far Madding counsel could't channel. The Wave mistress can't channel, only the Wind finder. the Seanchan Empress can't channel or they would have collared her. As I said earlier not all Aes Sedai are female. Not all the Wise woman could channel, nor could all Queens of Andor, though all were sent to Tar Valon for training.

The Aiel have the Wise ones true, and they can channel and probably have more say in things than the chiefs, but there are chiefs.
Theres a ton more male societies in the waste than female.

I'd also recommend a series by Terry Goodkind, starts with Wizards First Rule, and has ten books out now. Very good, if you liked this series you'll love Goodkinds as well.
