Skinning

Not 6 months ago, a change was made to the skinning system, generally making it more difficult to successfully skin a kill. I suspect there are several known factors, besides First Aid, that influence your success (i.e. kneeling, weapon, health, stance). In other words, what makes for a successful skin? Thought maybe one of you mechanics gurus could help me out on this one.

Skinning spell, Mobility spell, Tend Lore spell.

Dexterity bonus.

Item held in your right hand (or item that you use to skin with, using the syntax SKIN WITH )... small, sharp items work best, ie dagger class weapons. Also, the integrity of the weapon seems to be a factor, so make sure your skinning item is always at 100% integrity with the FIX command.

Kneeling does seem to positively influence your ability to skin under the new system.

Wounds and scars (particularly: hand, arm, head, eye and nervous system injuries/scars) on your person will have a detrimental effect on your ability to skin.

Also, wounds on mob you're skinning will also have a detrimental effect depending on what it is you're skinning (don't expect to get a good scalp off a hobgoblin with head trauma, or a good seeker/rolton eye if you just blasted their eyes to smithereans.)

I don't know if stance is a factor. Seems rather silly to me that it would be, but if somebody wants to go ahead and prove that it is... be my guest.

I should note that as a ranger who is a bit over single trained in first aid, for the most part, the changes were mostly positive for me. If you were easily able to skin mobs before, then likely the same skins will be worth more, on average, than they were before. If you have difficulty skinning a mob before the changes, you likely will get less money than before, since the skins you do produce will probably be of poor quality.

I'm not really what you'd call a mechanics guru, but I hope this helps. reg
