Gemstone III Encyclopedia

Greetings. I'm not too good with words, so.. bear with me, please.

I have started a project I am calling the Gemstone III Encyclopedia. The encyclopedia is a Wizard FE script that provides instant reference to a number of items in the game, such as spells, creatures, hunting areas, and directions. The usage is ".lookup " where is any spell number, name, creature, or other entry in the encyclopedia. The information is displayed directly to the game window, removing the need to switch to webpages when looking up information you need quickly.

I realized very quickly that this was a VERY lofty goal, and that the project was far too expansive for me to complete by myself. Therefore, I'm asking for any people who are interested in contributing entries to the encyclopedia to visit the website, at:

http://go.to/gs3encyc

Here's a quick list of the sorts of things I'm *specifically* looking for. However, I'm accepting almost any kind of entry. Please, if you have the time, help me to make this a powerful tool for all Gemstone players.

  • Creature information

  • Area information, such as for Upper Trollfang, Kobold Village..

  • Spell information!

  • House/organization information (Ask an authority for permission)

  • Hunting techniques

  • Professional etiquette

  • Scripting tutorials

  • Society Advancement (voln, etc.)

  • Herbs / Potions information

  • Suggested training paths

  • Suggested hunting areas by profession/level

  • Merchanting guides

  • Any other guide/reference item

  • Lockpick information

  • Picking/Disarming information

  • Roleplaying guides

  • Verb guides

  • Almost anything you can think of.

Good to see people taking on nice light projects on the side. Wonder if it will be out by the time gemstone goes virtually realistic?

For such passtime, your best friend is the web. Search around for encyclopedic sites. You may find http://www.zone9.com/coven/index.htm useful. Good luck, and may peace be with you.

I can only imagine how slow that script will run. You might want to use C++ (or another language) instead. reg
