For the record, crafting and forging skill modifiers are different.

Professional HANDICAPs exist, this means the particular profession of the craftsperson decreases their chance of success. They rank as follows. The specific numbers will not be provided at this time.

Crafting:

Thief, Ranger - no handicap

Warrior - small handicap

Bard, Empath, Cleric - significant handicap

Sorcerer,Wizard - significant handicap

Forging:

Warrior - small bonus

Thief

Ranger, Bard

Empath, Cleric

Sorcerer, Wizard

Racial modifiers are ranked as follows:

Crafting:

Dwarves - bonus

Elves, Dark Elves - bonus

Others - no modifier

Sylvankind - handicap

Forging:

Dwarves - small bonus

Elves, Dark Elves - small bonus

Others - no modifier

Sylvankind - small handicap

Again, these modifiers are to the chance of success using the skill, they have no impact on your chance to learn. The modifiers also do not effect the quality of the item produced. Quality is based solely on actual skill and level of success.
