Disease

I was hunting zombies today, where I occasionally get diseased... today I noticed this though:

A zombie's eyes flash bright red!
A zombie claws at you!
AS: +201 vs DS: +140 with AvD: +19 + d100 roll: +27 = +107
... and hits for 1 point of damage!
A feeble blow to your right arm!
You suddenly feel deathly ill as your body is wracked by a virulent disease!
CS: +79 - TD: +160 + CvA: -9 + d100: +31 - -5 == -54
Warded off!

How did I get diseased? Didn't I ward it off? I'm just a bit confused what that roll is for if I still got diseased when it was "Warded off!". That's without 104 cast on me, either. Just curious, is all. Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

I'm not too sure, but I think you always get diseased from zombies when they hit you.

The warding roll can increase the strength of the disease however, so it's better to ward it off.

At any rate, the disease you got should have simply have been a very minor disease. Other critters also carry with them poison flairing or disease flairing weapons, so only way to avoid em is to not get hit.

It was something like 13 per, nothing too bad. I've gotten up to 25 or so, but I don't think any higher than that.

I'm almost positive they don't disease you every time you get hit, but I'll find out the next time I hunt them. Kinda strange though, because the "hit" wasn't even hard enough to cause a wound.

Hmm...

A zombie tries to bite you!
AS: +195 vs DS: +140 with AvD: +20 + d100 roll: +91 = +166
... and hits for 36 points of damage!
Blow to your chest causes your heart to skip a beat.
You are stunned for 1 rounds!

No disease. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not going to pretend to know how everything works, but here's the lowdown:

The disease is, according to my best guess, a hidden roll.

The CS vs TD roll you see is for spirit drain. I think torso hits prompt this, but I could be wrong. reg
