Boil Earth?

Anyone know if being in a more aggressive stance when boiled will help dodge it? I'm hunting wood wights, and they're easy to kill after they cast, but there's about a 1/4 chance of them casting boil, and about 1/2 the time boil will somehow manage to crit me, or knock me to the ground and a woodsman comes in and chops me to bits. So.. If it does help, then I can go stance forward and take off my shield so that if I do get boiled I'll have more defense then from just stance forward and my sword. Thanks in advance. reg
There's no evidence that a higher stance helps dodging boils, only speculation. Age and encumberance seem to be the primary factors.

And why would you put your shield away when waiting for a boil?

I assume by take off, he means take it off his shoulder - that he's a two-hander. reg
I'd have to say that being in a more offensive stance helps with boils. Whenever I would hunt fire mages and would be in defensive, that's when I would take huge damage loss shots, but when I was in offensive, it'd be a bunch of 1-10 hits.

I would agree with Pudgee even if there isn't a lot of proof to the statement. I always thought I dodged better in an offensive stance when hunting wood wights and woodsmen.

Encumbrance has a lot to do with dodging it also. IMO.

The reason it's better to be in offensive stance against boil earth is that in offensive stance you get a bonus to your encumberance.

Even if you're not encumbered at all, being in offensive stance still gives you a bonus and that will be of use to you against the good majority of maneuver attacks.

Check it out sometime for yourselves... go in defensive stance, and get yourself just a tad bit encumbered... then type in ENC and check the message, then switch to offensive stance and type in ENC again and you'll see the difference.
