Level Cap Question

I posted this same question on another website (the link from Tsoran's home page) but this set of boards appears to get more traffic so I thought I would post here as well.

What is the current level cap and is that set in stone or could it be raised if more tweaks are done to improve balance issues in the game?

I've been gone for quite a while and the last I'd heard was that there wasn't any cap at all. At that time, the oldest critters were in the rift, but I see that's changed as well.

We sure do.

Gemstone has a soft level cap in place at level 160. The soft level cap means that the level cap will be set 10 levels higher than the oldest critter in the game. Currently that critter is the war gryphon at level 150 (located in Old Ta'Faendryl, see forum below for more information).

In the future (maybe 30 years from now) Simutronics may decide to make an older hunting ground with critters that range up to level 200, at that point the soft level cap would be raised from 160, to 210.

Hopefully you get the idea of what I mean by a soft level cap.

And yes... you are correct, this cap wasn't always in place, hence the reason we have some very beastly people like Malok and Suvar walking the lands.

Finally... welcome to the Player's Corner, if ever you have any other questions about GS just feel free to ask. We're pretty quick to respond

Thank you very much for such a quick response! I've got another question specific to Sorcery so I shall head down there.

Also, if anyone's heard any GM announcements or has any educated guesses regarding when some older critters might be implemented I would love to hear them here.

Thanks again!
