I'm not Renment or his 132 sorc, but I do know the 132 sorc and thus I can rightfully say he exists.

Nietslaf reg

The way I see it...Maybe he does have this level 132 sorcerer. Ok if he does he is an idiot for threatening another character with it. Also YOUR AN OUT OF CHARACTER FOOL! Fight your own battles. If he plays his level 132 character like he does this character he does not deserve to have it. Power hunting is wrong. Gemstone 3 is a role playing game. Play the game right. Why do you think Simu keeps on changing the game. Makes it harder for people to hunt perhaps? They want role players not power hunters! Both his characters should be banished just because HE OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT ROLE PLAY!

Lord Deprav
One who cannot decide if newbie the correct term, or one who needs to learn the correct term. reg

Sounds like that idiot Meyhymm. reg
<>

First of all, power hunting is not 'wrong.' It might not be why you play GS, but simu has stated time after time that there is no 'reason' for GS. If you like to hunt, then by all means hunt. If you like to rp, then great, do that.

What are you talking about 'play the game right'? Why do you think stuff like TRAINING your character and monsters even exist if you aren't supposed to hunt? That obviously wasn't a very thought out statement.

And yet again you are wrong. They don't want RPers over power hunters. They want paying customers that will not necessarily degrade the integrity of the game. Just so you guys know the log you saw was an editted log. You missed the MANY MANY whispers threatening to REPORT Remnent for poaching and stuff. I'd like to see that Carathand guy post the entire log, then we'll see how everyone reacts.

Just to clear my name, I am not Remnent nor have access to him or his sorc. I am a good friend of his out the game though, so I did get a chance to see the real log.

Nietslaf reg

So why hasn't he brought uncle sorcie in to kill me yet? I was assuming he was actually being serious with the threat. reg

Heh.. of course it's an edited log. There were a load of manticores and thraks running around, and there's no way to avoid that. The only thing I edited out was them attacking myself or Renment and my commands being input. There's nothing wrong about that. And as to the whispers, the only time I whispered to him was when I said I'd report him if he brought in his older sorceror. If your buddy is going to poach, he should be prepared for the consequences.

That being said, please post the real log Nietslaf. It should be funny to hear what Mr. "i'll come kill you with my 132 sorcerer" has to say about all this. reg

GM's have stated several times that Poaching is not against policy/reportable unless it is being done as harassment.

Poaching is consent to PvP though.

-=Insomniac=- reg

Alright, maybe I am stupid, but I have been wondering what the difference is between PvP and CvC. Can anyone gimme a good explanation please?

Thanks reg

The differance between pvp and cvc is suttle, but there. The poaching is consent to pvp statement is wrong. Poaching is consent to cvc. If someone comes into a room, kills a creature you are fighting, picks your pockets, then tells you to make love to a rolton, then you kill them, that is cvc. If the person then turns around and gets their riftin wizard down to kob ville and he slaughters you without a word, that is pvp.

If you do get involved in a PvP conflict, there is a chance you will get a warning or maybe even banned if someone reports. A CvC conflict is usually sorted out through the people directly involved, and I doubt there would be a situation for a gm to get involved if it is truly CvC. It's not a good explanation, but it's better than nothin. Phew, all this abbreviation has made me dizzy...

------------------
Man of many opinions reg

I am not going to disagree with you about Simu just wanting your money. But yes when the game was created it was suppose to be a family based role playing game. I do not care what a GM says if the game is role playing or not...They might not have been around since the game started. It was originally based on a total role playing game. Hunting is just a plus. Makes the game fun to hunt and role play. And yes that was a very well thought out statement because it is so TRUE. Training your character is suppose to add to role playing. Time goes by characters get older. Suppose to be fun like that.

Also I feel bad for you for being friends with Remnant. I can look at being a poacher and such as role playing...maybe sad role playing...but still role playing...but when you go out of character, that is just wrong to everyone.

-=Insomniac=-

I'd bet a cool grand that GM Andraste would vigorously disagree with Poaching being consent to PvP. Also small detail, but PvP technically is not allowed. You can have CvC roleplayed encounters that result in fisticuffs or combat so to speak but if you are attacking because you as the player are upset or responding to harassment or policing the game for ooc actions then do nothing and report.

Been there, done that. Not fun to be in trouble for something you were in all honesty trying to fix.

I also truly believe many GM's are attracted by the job in the first place to get their jollies off nabbing people and giving out warnings and lockouts. I have personally heard "live" one say so at a gathering. Yep, sick person if you ask me. Must be a small life to lead if you need your "authority fix" in a fantasy setting.

Never did "get a life" mean more when I heard that.

reg

Ok, So say this situation comes up:
I am out hunting and someone kills a roomful of my critters.. And I ask them why the heck they do it.. they backtalk etc.. We get fired up. We duel and I lose.. die.
That is CvC?
And then if say I as a person brought in another character to kill him, that would make it PvP? Because I am not limiting it to one character, but am limiting it to what I have.. two characters in this case. And PvP is wrong, but CvC can be alright in certain instances?

Trying to clear the murky waters in my head. reg

If I could crack the code on it then I most likely would still play the game. Frankly that was one of the main reasons I left.

Staff blatant policy inconsistencies top the list. One GM will state black and white one thing and another will state the exact opposite. It seems most in fashion in regards to CvC encounters.

Want my advice? Just avoid any duel/negative roleplay with anyone you don't know or trust. There isn't a single way to prove you had consent with the other party (unless a GM was looking in via Big Brother and getting them to admit that is a whole other rant). Some GM's I am convinced get all pink and giggly when they can slap a warning/lockout on someone who was baited in a conflict. They simply don't care who was right or wrong. They will use some obscure personal test to determine if you are "disruptive" and totally ignore other people there who say it isn't.

Take your chances. At the very least get the other person to acknowledge if they continue to poach your character that you will consider it consent to CvC. If you don't get that from them then leave and report.

Sad you gotta do that sort of thing, but it's the only way to insure you don't get fingered by some whining dingy snert whose sole objective is to disrupt your game time. And even worse are at the receiving end of a pill popping booze guzzling GM. (in humor of course given the signature of someone on these boards) reg

<< And then if say I as a person brought in another character to kill him, that would make it PvP? Because I am not limiting it to one character, but am limiting it to what I have.. two characters in this case. And PvP is wrong, but CvC can be alright in certain instances? >>

Unconsented CvC can in many instances be concidered abusive. Unconsented PvP is always against policy as it stands. Whether a GM does something about it or not only God knows...

The best differentiation I can give between the two is that PvP means the player of one character against the player of another character. It's not a roleplayed conflict, it's me the player getting pissed off at the player of another character and wanting to bash his face in. That is against policy.

CvC is Kranar the character against another character. It's usually a roleplayed conflict and isn't put in motion due to anger or resent towards an actual real life person.
