The Players Corner Archive

The Corner's Dueling Federation!!!!

I have been wanting to do this for awhile now and wish to delay no longer.

Warriors whos level is greater than or equal to 20 and lower than or equal to 25 you are invited to attend the Player's Corner first dueling tournament. In order for the tournament to take place there must be a minimum of at least 15 participants, the tournament will be free and any race is allowed to participate.

Each warrior will be given one e-bladed dagger and the choice of his or her armor class. No shields or spells will be allowed, simply an e-bladed dagger, your choice of unenchanted plain and simple armor and of course, all your strength and might!

At this point the plans for how the tournament will take place are unclear. One plan is to do a royal rumble type of match where the tournament starts off with 2 men, and every 2 minutes another man joins the battle. The order in which people will join the battle will be determined randomly, however there are other ways of conducting this tournament. The date of this tournament is also at this time uncertain but the sooner more people sign up for the tournament, the faster.

One thing however about the tournament is clear:
The winner of the first tournament will receive a cash prize of 1.5 million silvers!

Future goals for this dueling tournament will be to have tournaments for other professions such as wizards, sorcerers, tag team duels, radius duels (like a duel where there are 5-6 room boundaries and 20-30 people fighting each other). Although the first tournament will be free, there MAY be a small entrance requirement for future tournaments, like 20-30k to enter and winner gets the entire pool of money.

Tournament winners and competitors will be announced on these boards.

Get training folks, if you're 15 trainings now, work your butt off to get to 20-25 as fast as you can to attend the first dueling tournament.

If you're interested in this tournament please make a response in this thread so that I can evaluate the level or interest this tournament will have.

More information about the tournament will be posted in the future so check back soon. This is only the beginning.

My fiter's too old to compete, but might as well hit you up with some questions you (might) need to adress.

Are guild skills allowed?
Voln-Fu?
What about warriors who don't train in, or don't primarilly train in edged?
What limits are there on symbols and signs?

Hell, are you sure daggers are a good idea? My fighter could wear half-plate at no hinderance at level 25, and he's trained well in magic arts. I'd wear full plate in a heart beat. (Oh, no! Not 2 RT!) Try hitting someone in full plate, with redux, with a dagger. You're going nowhere.

Current rules as they are, a Halfling that trains in major physical, one-handed skills will almost surely win. Enough DS and DFRedux to take big hits as well as enough Dexterity and Reflexes to wear full plate without a problem would keep him quite safe. With no shields, his slightly lower AS won't be nearly as important, and carrying only a dagger and plate won't slow him down. If he can hide and ambush as well, he'd very likely come out the winner.

Just as I see it. reg

Guild skills would be allowed, Voln Fu symbols would be allowed so would CoL. The only form of attack however would be attacking with a dagger. DFRedux and full plate should be your goal for your warrior, but remember, when it's 10 on 1 guy he's probably gonna lose, halfling or giantman. For those who don't train in edged weapons they will be allowed to use either a cudgel or a crowbill, I'm still trying to work out what would be the blunt equivalent.

There is no shield in this duel and no enchanted armor. Just your dagger, your CoL/Voln symbols, and your guild skills.

Keep in mind also, the hafling is up against an e-bladed dagger, those things flare and regardless of your armor they can stun you so long as the roll is greater than 100. They can crit for up to 25 hit points and stun, if you're a halfling with 150 HP you will go down if one person tackles you and another person lashes at you with a dagger. The goal is to make this a lengthy duel, not something that will be over in 30-40 seconds but more like 3-4 minutes. Ambushing and hiding would be an excellent skill, but don't think it would guarentee victory in a 15 man brawl when 4 people might notice you ambushing and then decide to attack you and crit you with a flare.

Oh, one other thing, obstacles will be in this tournament. I reserve the right at anytime to cast tremors, e-wave or quake.

Keep posting comments, the rules and procedure can and most like will undergo some re-evaluations before the tournament takes place.

The problems with balancing the weapons:

Blunts do much better against full plate, period. Even the whip, far and away the weakest blunt weapon, has more than twice the DF vs. Plate than a dagger.

Two Handers: The staff is the weakest two-hander, but it's almost too weak. For the same RT, you can swing a morning star or a falcion, and both are easily stonger than the staff. Flamberge or flail, perhaps?

Without a shield, ranged/thrown weapons users could have an easy time taking out their targets - offenisve, defensive, it's all the same. Might be interesting to see if that makes up for the ROI differance.

::yawn:: maybe more later. reg

I vote for the ole, up the crick without a paddle fight...

Two neked fiters, one dagger . Crayon drops it at "Go!"

fun fun fun...

Okay, doesn't seem like too many warriors are interested in this.

What I will do then is this... if you're interested in signing up for a dueling tournament, post your character name, level, race, and profession. Once I have a good list of people interested in the tournament I will determine the rules (like no meteor swarm), regulations (like I can cast tremors and quake when I please) and requirements of the duel (must be 3 inches tall, sorry haflings).

Oh one other thing...

Tell your friends, tell your friends friend, tell their ma's and pa's and anyone you know.

No problem! This will be awesome once enough people join and we can get some organized and fun duels to participate in.

How dull is it nowadays going to the boulder and watching the same ol countdown duels that end in 10 seconds? This will be something different, plenty of people fighting in several rooms trying to decide who to take out first.

If we get 30 people to sign up what I think we'll do is have 2 groups of 15 people who will have a 5 room boundary. Another idea is to have lives... like you have to die twice before you're eliminated. After you die the first time you will be healed and raised and given strength before you're sent back into the blood bath.
