Secret Sinner

Dear Summerlyn,

I recently broke off my engagement to a man that was very nice, but a bit boring. It was to the point that I would cringe when I saw that he was awake.

Since the break-up, I've been spending time with a friend of his that I like very much. The problem is the friend feels we need to keep our relationship a secret, in order to protect my ex's feelings.

I don't want to keep it a secret, but I don't want to make my new friend uncomfortable.

Secret Sinner

Dear Secret,
Hope you don't mind the name, I was just teasin' with ya, but I surely love S names! Anyway, boring is never good... I hope you were kind and considerate when you made your big break, but if you were that bored, I think you did the right thing.

With your new friend, I would probably just have fun for a bit, and not worry too much about making the relationship "official". If it gets serious... maybe you, or your friend, could talk to your ex and explain what's going on, and that his friendship is important to you both.

Best of luck to you,
Summer

Oh, and on a personal note, we need to do that hunting thing soon! reg

I would also suggest paying close attention to how he reacted when you broke up with him. Anything you decide to do in the future should be based off of what his character did or said upon the final notes of your relationship.

Use that to determine what you should do, should things become serious with you and his friend. If the guy's reaction wasn't very big or if he brushed it off somewhat easily, I say go for it... tell all you wish.

When Seserous broke up with me, I got furious and stormed out of the inn, wanting only to be left alone for the longest time. I told a few others my tale and won sympathy from some, but in the end, I decided that I still wanted to be her friend and so we are today.

Point being, knowledge of a new guy in your life might be bad now, but if he really likes you he will be back. As friend if nothing more.
