My wife is dropping hints all over about what an awesome gift she got me for "Thrakmas". I feel pressured that I have to go out and try and find her a gift, which will be a major (edited) miracle since she has everything ever sold in a tent, wagon, or shop! On top of that, what the heck (edited) is "Thrakmas"?

Dear Humbug,

I have to admit, your letter had me laughing. I hope you don't mind that I, hmm... edited some of your more "colorful" words.

I've always felt that a gift is more than spending silvers. I don't care how much, or how little a gift costs, if it was selected with thoughtfulness and caring, that's what makes a gift special. I would never want someone to feel like they HAD to give me something. If you don't want to exchange gifts with your wife, I would tell her that and maybe discuss an Elanthia holiday to celebrate.

In regards to "Thrakmas", I don't have a clue where that came from. I guess people get the holiday spirit and try to make this time special in Elanthia too. Just go out and behead some critters, and it'll all be over with soon!

I feel for this person. Nothing worse than trying to live up to a person's expectations of some grand gift they THINK you should be getting them.

Personally, I think you should do something romantic in Elanthia for this woman. Go to the bakery, get a picnic basket. Get a nice blanket, you can prolly ask on the net and get something fairly cheap. Get some wine from the Hearthstone porch, and take your woman on a date! Take her somewhere romantic. A swim to Oleani's shrine, or down to the Sand Castle and explore. The Colossus is also a good place to go. Then when you come back, get all dressed up so she can show off those pretty gowns she prolly rarely ever wears. Take her to Silvergate and go dancing. If you have too much elven wine, you can always get a room. The Jungle Room is quite nice if you want to take a swim.

Sometimes, the best things in life really don't cost much if anything. It really IS the thought that counts.
