I don't wanna sound like a whiner...

But this is just _not_ good roleplaying technique whatsoever...

Ex.'s:

Sukara says, "lets make some really cool stuff"

Augie says, "that would be cool"

Augie says, "be quiet this isn't going to help"

Augie's continual kissing-up just bugs me to no end.

And yet she and several others insist on shutting everyone up, yadayada.

Just pitiful RP'ing. It's a shame that this is how things have ended up. reg

Ya I hear that man..at alterers I really enjoy making fun of the people who have their lips like literally inside the alterer's ass.

Sitting in an alterer's tent/wagon is about the only thing that can make me really cranky, really fast in the wonderful world of Elanthia. It's just not worth it, at least to me.

Sukara isn't exactly top shelf when it comes to alterer's, and augie well, I'll hold my tongue.

------------------
You're obviously not a golfer. reg

Its like sitting in a room full of two year olds while one woman hands out cookies...

A little pushing and shoving, a little whining, a little crying, a little bat of the eyelashes, a little shin kicking, a little 'NO FAIR', etc...etc

reg

If you're looking for RP, do not go to an alterer's wagon. Oh you'll find it all right, but it's the sickly sweet kind that makes you want to throw up after being there two minutes. reg
I think Sukara does decent work, but when she sets up wagon....she does alters for hours and hours on end, and although this may seem like such a great thing, realistically someone isn't going to sit there and make like 50 items over the course of a night. And those games of chance, as far as..."go in the blue room or the red room" until like the group of 75 people is down to 1 gets really time consuming and lame. Roleplaying doesn't exist in an event like that, nor does anything beneficial come of it. Just not worth the waste of time when there is other things in game you could be doing.

First thought:

Did Sukara really say "Lets make some cool stuff?" If so, thats horribly OOC and I am really surprised she'd say something like that.

I'll refrain from commenting much on Augie. I don't know her character at all, but I wouldn't be surprised if what everyone is saying is true. I do have to wonder what the hell the deal is with her signing her posts (on GS BBS) with "Official Tart Girl of Elanthia."

I swear thats one of the stupidest things I've read on the GS boards.

If you think that's bad, you should actually visit her one of these times and see how she talks.

I love Sukara for all the hard work and dedication she has, but as for as staying in-character and roleplaying, she can't seem to do that.

If you see Augie in game just run away and save yourself a huge headache. Better yet set up a squelch string (just kidding).

If anyone remembers the heyday of Tsalin #1 the most nervous twitish character in gemstone I remember then multiply that by the annoying factor of 10. That equals Augie.

I see people that adore her, I just gag. Both in character and out. I applaud her if that is the route she is planning. She has succeeded at that.

I won't comment on the player, because I do not know her/him/it.

Hiway reg

Just out of curiosity, who is the GM behind Sukara? The energy seems like Kyalia, but the RP and rules doesn't...

And for squelches, I have two words. Tart and wolf.

Hey, can I be the Official Tart of Elanthia?

oh wait...never mind...

I dunno. I've always figured Augie as being something like Barney. You WILL notice them, you will appreciate them, or you will, as you said, gag.

Only negative interaction I've had with her was when someone was RPing a life-changing event, and she came in and did the whole bouncy tart girl thing. After 10 minutes, she still hadn't clued in.

Other than that, she's provided color. The same way something 8 feet tall and purple would. reg

Yes that would be fine if she accepted the other side of the coin also. People should not only tolerate the extremely over the top happy bouncy annoying character just as the dark heavily sarcastic arguementative one.

That is my point.

Sometimes it is fun to play both. Coming to a fantasy world SHOULD be about being able to express yourself in a way you would like without worrying about people taking it personally. It is fun to play a role.

Gm's only allow certain ways and types it seems. The mix of fuzzy rules and judgements either favoring the majority or sometimes the GM minority so contradict each other it does literally blow the mind.

Consistency, logic, and fairness do not rule the day because policy is too vague and GM's know it.

Hiway reg

even tho Augie's RPing might be mortifying at least shes having fun in GS and not bickering like you sore losers

Zentalin...you really amaze me.

Sore losers.

I do recall you saying that I fabricated a log in the Concerns folder of me blinding and binding you.

Now we are sore losers.

I think not.

We've actually stopped putting GM's PC's on the boards here. If you wanna know IM me <wink>

Yes, Sukara actually said the word cool that day.

And I'm extremely tired of seeing the same people picked @ GS events. The Dhu Galleywack just set me off. Seeing Boomsplat picked a repeated 3 times in a row and eventually 7 times in a matter of 11 spins just made it completely obvious to me.

I understand that the spinners are random. I'm just confused with exactly how random they are.

I mean...a room of 200-300 people...Klaive walks in and is automatically picked.

As for Augie...well...her, Kiera, and Aquamarine might be my most unfavorite people to be around at a merchant. First off because Kiera kisses up and reads out the instructions from the GM...of course if Augie doesn't first. Then Aquamarine sets up a group...and actually says something to this effect outloud, "Join me for descriptions to have Sukara alter on your item."

One time I was on my level 5 or so character and I just started saying, "Join me if you don't suck up to merchants." Had a group of at least 30-35 people going.

Heh.
reg

I'm a bit late on this, I realize, but thought I should note the obvious: Kyalia, while a great GM and hard worker, does not excel in the roleplay aspect with her merchant characters.

I hate saying that, since Kyalia rocks, but.. it's true. For all her efficiency and hard work, she needs to put a little more effort into discovering her roleplaying self, more time into defining the concepts of In Genre and immersing herself (as much as a busy GM can) into how her character would behave. reg

"That's nae cool."
- random amulet thought reg
I will say that some of her merchants do a wonderful job of being in character.

I loved Ghimpy. She was a fun dwarf, and did a good job with the injured routine...

And Eza was pretty neat. A believable greedy gnome.

Quite honestly, if I had 200 people all screaming, "Please alter for me," and the screen scroll from hell going on, I dunno how good my RP would be either....

And for those who don't like the games...There are many of us who do. I think it's hilarious to watch 200+ people all running around like chickens with their heads cut off. And it makes the alteration process more interesting...Even the group alterations can be fun if you get a good group together. I'd enjoy playing her games even without a prize. Just because it's something different to do in game that gets people active and interacting.

I beg to differ.

Lay off of Sukara. She is God. End of Discussion.

So I got lucky. Shut up. I assure you, Kyalia is above such things as favoring one character over another. It's all luck.

If you have anything other than respect or admiration for the woman, you're wrong and you need to change. She is the best damn alterer GemStone III has ever seen.

Furthermore, the word "cool" is quite in genre. One would immediately assume that it was not because it's a more modern phrase... but Elanthia is not earth and some terms exist there that are modern. It is a word that many people use and if you actually role-play your character, you'd be familiar with that term by now. I'm not saying you should use it... but not everyone's an RP Nazi. You gotta loosen up.

Well...you and your butt-kissing friends would all agree on that of course. reg

Worst damn alterer?

Absolutely beg to differ on that.

The best descriptions I've seen have from from Caer lately.

Before you were even around there were incredible alterers. When show descriptions started there were incredible alterers.

Yes Sukki is a very good GM. I've never debated that. She's been the most over-giving GM we've had in a long long time and I'm very happy for her being around.

As for the rest of your statement about the word cool...I have no comment.

Heh.

I can...because it's easy to pick out how people respond/act, etc.

I'm completely against the longevity argument...don't get me wrong there Klaive. I hate it when people use how long they've been around to support their argument. reg
