They were all before my time, but I hear certain names mentioned quite a bit, and it makes me wonder what they did that made them stand out. Some of the names that I hear references to are Bleeds, Sagan, Wanton, Mxenna (I might have that spelled wrong)... I'm sure there are many others.

I would really like to hear stories about some true Legends, and what made them so special.

I was there the one time I ever saw him invite physical conflict, and that was because the other person refused to stop pestering him. So Dionket told him go ahead, take a shot - and the guy did. I don't remember which one of them ended up dead, and I think that says volumes about this gentle soul.

Dionket was Legendary, at least to me, even before he managed to get Albert at Hearthstone to recognize his name.

Back in a time when you could actually role play an evil character and have it mean something....

I'll never forget my first SimuCon when a huge argument broke out at the conference Fawn was holding about how its impossible for players to 'police their own'...The old players were truly infuriated because the 'thump' feature wasn't good enough..

Anyway, I think when power hunters entered the game, it lost its sense of magic..

I agree, Rhain. I remember when I was new and would see a "Legend", I was kind of in awe and thought they must know just about everything there is to know! Now that I'm close to hitting that mark, it's just no big "thang".

My only reason for including Lohlem was because of his knowledge on wizardry.

I really appreciate good posters on the boards. Always have.

About 3-4 years ago (might be wrong) Jacore vs. Lohlem was the second coming of Dmitri vs. Dartaghan on the wizard boards on AOL.

They had some incredibly in-depth and informative posts regarding not only wizards...but everything in GS.

Ever heard about the post involving whether or not to continue training in shield use when you hunt from guarded? That was brought up by Jacore in one of his arguments with Lohlem. A milestone in the art of training in shield use in my opinion.

I should've gone into further description about that one...thanks for questioning.

Zurion: The first true legend cleric that I met when I was young. (This is just a bias of mine)

Bleeds: Referred to as High Priest Lord Bleeds. If you came up to him and did not refer to him the right way or in a manner that he didn't like...he'd usually take a limb off. The first true _evil_ RP'er in GS in my opinion. And a great friend IRL.

Sagan: An evil RP'er just like Bleeds. He was the original assassin to me. I remember back when he and Rozak and Cistan and a few others were allowing people to hire them to kill people. Sagan always had some of the neatest toys (Dice of Fate/5x/5x defender katana/8x incredibly crit weighted bastardsword, etc.)

Berr: The first legend warrior...'nuff said (I think he was first...god I thought I was good with the history stuff...guess not)

Pan: Very old wizard. He ran the cooper's shop workshop. (Aanalar's workshop)

Odds: The first wizard to learn true enchant (925). Basically he was the original hobbit Odds was basically the original wizard of respect...before Kodos and Dart. He left...then the other two hobbits moved in.

Silvean: An excellent RP'er of the new-age sort. There's several different people that can go into more depth on Silvean. He is an incredibly RP'er.

Dionket: As posted before his informative posts on the wizards boards are very entertaining to read. He has been around quite a while which some people don't know. I remember a while ago something about the deed to the treehouse in TSC. The solution was to give the deed to Dionket.

Dmitri: As posted before...one of the most controversial posters in AOL history in my opinion. He and Dartaghan would sound the alarms and go at it on the wizard boards...was extremely informative to read.

Jacore: Jacore was a two-handed warrior mage (similar to Tedra). Was a very good poster as well. As I posted before...he made the post about the shield use bonus being so small that it was pretty much useless for anyone that was hunting from a guarded position to train in.

Lohlem: Already posted my opinion on Lohlem above.

Tedra: I made a wizard a long time ago. A halfling. Everytime that I had a question I'd e-mail Johanna. The original two-hander warrior mage was Tedra. A very very intelligent lady. She told me from the beginning that I could never go wrong with a pure spell-casting mage. Boy was she ever right.

Jylli: An old cleric friend of mine that was always a blast to hang out with. Burren, her husband, a human rogue was also thoroughly entertaining (Another personal bias)

Cntrille: The original Zelia follower...that had proof to show it (I guess those would be the right words). He has more Zelia crap...it's rediculous.

Setzier: Setzier is part of the new-school evil types. He RP's it very well without having to resort to PvP. It's usually a marvel to be able to watch someone like this work.

Kree: Was the leader of the Dhe'nari for a while. A very respected rogue amongst everyone in GS...also one of the original _evil_ people.

Lairerrykthrok: I believe Lair was the first titled cleric in GS. I might be wrong on this point however. His stay was very short...but he was a very fun guy to hang with.

Strom: The first legend empath. Also first person to reach level 100. You find springs...be on the lookout for Strom!

Kayla: The second legend empath. Also second person to reach level 100 I believe.

In a more in depth answer to your question Summer...

The reason that these people standout in my mind is:

-With a lot of them...they were able to RP evil characters without having to resort to killing people

-Most of them are not interested or were not interested in leveling. They knew they would get old sometime...someday. It was inevitable...and that's what happened. (They make proof to the point that you don't have to be old to be good in GS)

With a few I have a personal bias...but I'm sure on several of them I'll get some acknowledgement of some sort.

I'd add Miphnik (and yes I'm biased) to that list..

From pre-Jesh days so not many got a chance to know him, but he has logs and stories that would blow your mind...

Krakii was always a legend in my mind

Enegue was another one, if anyone gets the chance to meet him in real life, this guy owns "THE BIBLE" of Gemstone and has the same bad taste in his mouth of Whatley, so his stories are always funny and direct...not sugar coated.

Sagan and Bleeds, might as well have been twins.

I looked up to Featherhair in the beginning of my days in Gemstone, but when she left that sort of fell apart.

Daelynn was someone I had respect for in the game, definately.

I'm really not so sure about that. I knew this guy a LONG time ago (my first year back in... 94 or so?) His name was Benez. He claimed he had the first Legend warrior, but the name of his warrior escapes me. Benez was a really reliable fellow, so I'd believe him when he said that. Anyways, two Legends to me were Benez and Mariais. They helped me with a whole lot, no idea if they still around.

Then, Decaine's player and a few others decided to plant their other account characters in the treehouse so they could watch, and magically their primary characters somehow KNEW all about it and could even recite details - while they were on Teras.

The result, was that Briars stole the deed, and then as some magnanamous gesture, gave the deed to the city, which placed it in the museum in the Landing. You can see it there, and read it too. It's in a glass case.

As for Lohlem, my favorite interaction involved using the evil eye spell to transport people from Teras to the Landing. We had hoped to open a Transport Service, making a lovely bundle of silvers and saving customers literally hours of time. Unfortunately, staff finally paid attention to the bug, fixed it, and it no longer does that.

Like the majority of the old schoolers did from what I've been told and seen evidence of in their training if they chose to show me. Someone told me if Thraak was a RL person and not a character, he'd be like on dialysis at this point. Based on his training you think, "what the hell is this?"

And now that he's turned from Sheru to Zelia, he is even more impressive. I am constantly amazed by his flawless role-playing style and how utterly believable he is.

He makes the entire realm of Elanthia come alive for me. And he's definately the most underappreciated Legend in the lands.

In my person opinion, in regard to role-playing, Klaive is the best there is, the best their was, and the best there ever will be.

He basically copied about everything Bleeds ever did and people loved him for it. (well the one's that didn't know Bleeds at least).

And last time I checked lots of people know who Greentide was.

Considering he had one of the highest if not the highest casting ability for sometime.

The same thing with Banauge...

Why is he famous? Because he leveled 30 some times after the move to the web by hand on a mac. Then he scripted the rest.

I believe he was the oldest empath in the game at the time of his removal.

What made Greentide memorable as a *character?* If you took away the CS, the level, his posts on the boards, what makes him legendary within the confines of the game?

What about Lohlem? I see posts talking about his posts on the boards. Characters don't post on the boards. Characters don't have access to anything outside Elanthia, let alone a web browser.

Take away all the OOC references and tell us who you consider to be a legendary character in the game? And what events, or knowledge of that character do you have that leads you to your opinion?

I agree that posting on the boards will not make you legendary, but it does make you popular in a very strong sense. People know your name, they know your opinions, and they can get to know what you're like. You can establish credit by posting on the boards and being knowledgeable because then people respect your opinion, and as is usually the case, if people respect your opinion out of the game, they will also respect your characters opinion inside the game.
