Character age VS Roleplay

Why is it that only the old or "Legendary" role-players are noticed?

I think we all agree training to your 50th level says nothing about your RP ability only that you have spent a lot of time hunting. Granted some though very few people RP while hunting.

Does anyone else notice that there are some great Role-players out there, albeit they have not spent a lot of time hunting so they don't have a title, therefore they go unnoticed completely?

One of the neatest people I have RP'ed with was unfortunately only in the lands for one month on the free trial. But I actually learned a lot from him about RP, though older people took his RP as snertiness and thumped, bound, and silenced him constantly. He created RP and had a great way of pulling those around him into it. He is what I aspire to emulate.

As Zadya I know enough people and my character appears "old" enough that I tend to get responses from people and I tend to not feel excluded even around people I don't know.

I have a younger character who was looking to start some RP one day, tried HS steps, huge mistake nobody even noticed me I even made a big deal about how I must be invisible but nobody notices. Actually I think I was thumped now that I think about it, granted I'm not the best RP'er but I try.

Just two days ago I walked around town as another young character, I found people that I knew weren't afk and asked random questions trying to get a conversation started and meet new people. Several didn't even acknowledge me would do stuff like spell up and go off on their hunt. However I'm willing to bet had I been on as Zadya did the exact same thing sure still some would have ignored me, but I would have been taken more seriously.

This is one of the reasons I don't like that we can't control how old we appear. It is a role-play killer. I can do my very best with my character try to pull others in, or even try to join in with others only to hit against a solid wall.

I even have one friend who doesn't RP at all I tease him about it but he has it in his mind that he can't RP until his character is older. Do others feel this way?

Anyway I rarely rant about anything, but this is plain silly and it is something we as players can fix. Would love to hear opinions on this.

Well, Miss D.

You're totally right. I have a little one myself who has a much better story than Klaive and role-plays twice as much. Yet, around old people I get completely ignored.

I've found that the best thing to do is get a glass amulet and role-play with wizards, bards, warriors and rogues. That way, you can't get dispelled.

When you're invisible with your fame hidden, people tend to notice you more, because you just might be able to spell them up if they're nice to you.

Of course, I've had times before when my invisibility ran out on my little one, they had been RPing with him, they looked at him and then abruptly, without a word, walked off.

I agree with you that age is the biggest problem we're facing from a role-playing standpoint. Age being tied in with trainings is just plain silly and very badly effects the atmosphere of the game. The strong can pretend to be weak. The weak can pretend to be strong. Some people's entire strength is in their intimidation factor, but if you gave them one good punch, they'd go straight down.

Why isn't it the same way with GS?

Excuse me your asinine comment is lost on me. I never did understand why people with nothing worthwhile to say bother to say anything at all.

Is this not a place to talk about RP? My mistake.
