To quirk or not to quirk

How many of you have characters that have quirks, odd behaviors or histories?

In contrast, how many of you have characters who are normal, everyday people, living a regular life and came to Elanthia for a new beginning?

I was just curious, since I have two relatively new characters.. one with major quirks and a rather screwed up life and past, and another who is just a regular girl with nothing very different about her life than the ordinary.

Do you consider the character with the normal lifestyle and past any less of a roleplayed character than one with quirks and oddities?

Just wanted to get the ball rolling in here again. reg

In GS, I had two primary characters: Bestatte and Courtine.

Bestatte was a dark elf, but not Faendryl; she was Dhe'nar. She considered herself above other races inclusing the Faendryl themselves. She didn't make a fuss about it though. She knew what she was, she had no need to prove it to anyone else.

Courtine, if I had to compare her to a real life adult person, would be considered emotionally undeveloped. She had common sense and intellect, but she was extremely child-like. She took joy in the most obscure and basic things in life: flowers, laughter, she would even find beauty in a sad person's tears. I reflected that in her personality, which most people took for stupidity. But anyone who had heard her speak Giantkin (her native tongue) would have known she wasn't lacking in brains. She was rather smart, but she didn't get the knack of "common" speech so she talked funny.

She also liked playing tricks on people...her favorite weapon she named Fluffy, and thought it very silly when people assumed she believed it was "alive." They'd ask what Fluffy was thinking about and she'd respond,

"Fluffy don't think tis a morninstar!"

>Courtine rolls her eyes.

She got a kick making fun of people who thought she was stupid, and because they thought she was still stupid, but clever, it amused her even more.

Quirks you say! Most of my temporary characters (ones that don't last long) are nuts. I had a wizard once that only wore a black veil. I made a killing in people offering me pants.

Nindameoi...the one I play most often is just a regular, very shy, gal. Odd that her moods reflect mine though reg

I see Anticor as a very generous fatherly type figure. He trys to help whenever he can. Other than that he has a thing for onyx and he likes to joke.
