I use a little freeware program called code edit. Its availible free for download at download.com.

Its a great general purpose coding editor. You can use it for anything c++ to html.

I like alot of its features.

A few tips for code edit.

in the options menu, under enviroments, you can set up defualt file filters. You can make one for scripts. *.wiz;*.cmd will make it so only scripts show up in the open/save dialog boxes, very useful.

In that same menu, the also have a color scheme selection. The Pascal option is great for you guys who program...

Alot of its features are tailored to more advance programming languages, but their are some other nifty features for scripting.

It has two clip boards, nice when you want to save stuff like room descripts, but still do your normal cutting and pasting.

It also displays the contents of the clipboard below the screen in the litle gray bar, which is kinda nice.

The tabs at the top allow for you to easily switch between programs.

It remebers the last program you had open when you restart it.

It has its own open recent list that it keeps track of.

It has a robust find and replace, able to search through multiple open files and with diferent options, also has a goto line number feature.

Also has a good backup feature.

All in all its pretty nice, has alot of features, yet simple enough to use even if you just want a notepad replacement that supports big files.
