If I Could Alter Anything...

What would it be? What favorite item are you hoping to get altered?

Just curious. I am running out of items that I "just have to" get altered, and most of the ones that I was waiting on, will no longer be worked on. So I am pretty much left to alter clothing and jewelry, for lack of other stuff to get done.

I don't really play much any more, but with the festivals coming, I am starting to get set again to have a big GS weekend of shopping with my dearest shopping buddy. I am putting together my Big List of Potential Alterations, along with my big bag of Junk That Could Be Altered.

The one main joy I get from GS outside of my friends is making nice stuff.

So tell me what you are really, really dying to get altered. You never know what might happen.

I always wanted a set of armor altered to me. Something with onyx, giantmen, and wizards.
But I don't think it will ever happen. In two years and countless sit-ins I have gotten one item. An onyx-studded giantman wizard toy, it moves it's hands in arcane gestures of magic when turned, got it from the toymaker last Christmas time. Other than that zilch so I just live with plain gear.

Cute toy.

So what other than armor would you alter Anticor? reg

Other than armor hmm....

I guess my cloak or my blade. I want something that is me and it is hard to find onyx giantman wizard stuff, seems they are few and far between. Every giantman alter is either a empath, warrior, or cleric it seems. I like to keep it fairly simple though. Or tastefully understated as I like to call it.

Cloak- A black spidersilk wizards cloak studded with onyx gemstones. Maybe throw in fit for a large or giatman frame.

Blade Right now I have an alum hilted silvery broadsword ( same thing as a translucent white broadsword just better looking) I would give it an onyx pommel and fit it as a giantmans blade, again could work in wizard to get the full effect.

I'd have my kelyn-tipped vultite war mattock altered to a heavy kelyn-tipped vultite war maul, with a show of some type, gimme a bit and I'll come up with something...

Some thoughts for a short:

An onyx-trimmed/ black silk/ greatcloak(15/10/10)

an enormous/ onyx silk/ cloak (11/9/5)

Basically, with your cloak, we'd need to go with a short, since you cannot have race or profession in a short or long, unless you already have it there.

I will assume that the merchants at these fests will be going by the standard alteration rules.

Based on the size of this cloak, it was fitted for a giantman wizard, and a large one at that. The rich black spidersilk has been lined with a myriad of pockets that contain mysterious ingredients suitable for potions and spells. Polished onyx gemstones edging the cloak have been etched with complex runes. The cloak closes at the throat with a large veil iron-edged onyx clasp.

Just some thoughts. If you want ideas for armor or weapons, let me know more.

Thought this up, probably not likely to happen...

From - A long dark spidersilk cloak

To - a long elven-crafted assassin's cloak
SHOW: the cloak is made entirely of dark spidersilk and woven together seamlessly. It's folds reach nearly to the ground and completely encompasses the wearer like a blanket of night.

In my dreams when closed it would conceal everything worn on the body looking sort of like...

You see Blah Blaherson the Elf
He's in his 40's
He is wearing a long elven-crafted assassin's cloak which conceals his remaining gear.

Or something like that. I'm allowed to dream aren't I? reg

Hey, he's wearing an assassin's cloak, but I can't see anything else...

He must be harmless!

alternately...

If I had a million dollars... reg

I always wanted a tiny reinforced shuri kota.

Shuri kota is a DR shield if anyone doesn't recognize the name.

I even made a hobbit cleric to hopefully one day get it made. I had a whole list of hobbit sized alterations but I never make a list. Probably could have had it done at a Pay to Play merchant but that's just a waste of money, IMO. I don't think you should have to pay extra for something they should let you attend for free. reg

Wow. I guess not too many people want to get stuff altered at the festivals...

My original intention was to see if I get picked for an alteration, and perhaps doing something nice for someone else, provided they had an alteration that was fairly easy to do, and wanted something reasonable that would pass GM approval, and merchant specifications (armor and weapons would require me to have it in hand, which isn't something I wanted to deal with.)

Aerienne reg

Well since we can physically beg now, I want to get a cup altered into a dented silver beggar's cup. That way I can mooch for silvers in the park.

Something else I'm looking to get is to get a large sack/satchel altered into a poacher's bag. The description I would use on that one would be: A decrepit leather poacher's bag clasped by several hanging veniom threads. Would be useful while hunting <grin>.

Anywho, just a few things I'd like to get someday. I keep a list of things I'd like done and even once in a while manage to get one done.

I want to get my shield altered into an escutcheon. I don't know, most shields don't just appeal to me, except an escutcheon, I'd just love to own one. I've only seen one, and it was only 5x plus the guy didn't wanna sell anyways...

I want to get something altered but problem is last time I went I watched someone come in hug everyone and bounce around and act, for lack of a better term, like an ass. That turned me off alittle from going just because I notice that person get an alter.

Second problem is my stays in game are very sporadic at best. There are times when I get to stay in game for the time I intend but more often then not in the middle of waiting, hunting, talking what have you I must log off and go to work (military is weird about calling in sick ) This sporadic nature makes it difficult at best to get an alter done. All my friends know that if I leave quickly it is for military reasons, but I do not feel it appropriate to whisper to a GM/merchant "Sorry gotta go duty calls."

I have items in my locker that I am just holding on to in hopes that some day I can get them altered: a raven feathered onyx cloak - into something close to the cloak you described above
some 0x supple onyx trimmed leathers that I would alter and wear in town for show only
But given my hectic lifestyle I realize chances are slim at best that I will ever get them done and I am cool with it.

The beggar's cup and poacher's bag unfortunately won't fly anymore because those are technically along the same lines as a profession, which is not allowed anymore. You could try a dented silver cup with a few silvers in the bottom.

Anticor, let me know what you like, dislike about the cloak ideas, and let's see what we can work out. You're the only one so far who has given me something I can work with.
I'm heading to NYC in a few hours, so I won't be able to check my email until next Wed. You can contact me at LadyAerienne@yahoo.com.

Nah, a beggar's cup will work.

Most of the alteration rules are stupid and even many of the merchants feel that they are so they only try to follow exactly what the rules say. So while they might not make you a ranger's or a warrior's item, they'll make you a beggar's item since "beggar's" wasn't specified in those dumb rules.

Just because something may be against the rules, it doesn't mean it won't happen. ;)

Aerienne,
I tried sending you a shout at LadyAerienne@yahoo.com and I got an undeliverable message report, not sure if it is your end or mine but something to look into.

Anticor Rifling, Giantman Wizard reg

Anticor, I just did a test from my work email to that yahoo address and it worked. Might want to try again. If not send it to Buckwheet@whee.org, and he can forward it to my work address if it keeps giving fits.

Pudgee, what you say is true, but it is totally dependent on the merchant and how they are feeling that day, because some will let you get away with anything, and others are selective who they will do stuff for. IN GENERAL, that is banned. But then, so is glowing, and Pinktoes was making crystal amulets (NOT just GLOWING amulets) into glowing gems, etc.

My basic rule is to have alternative back ups for these borderline/against the rule alterations.

Also, my intentions on this thread was stated above, which is why I was looking at alterations that AREN'T going to get denied.

Aerienne reg

Firgured out why it wasn't working, must need coffee. Sorry for the confusion.

Congrats Anticor! You are the first winner of the Alterations folder "If I Could Alter Anything contest." Please come find Aerienne in the game. She is on the Cloud.

Aerienne reg

You glance down to see a massive kelyn-tipped vultite war maul in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.

I got exactly what I wanted, muah.
