Intent and responses

I thought given some recent events and posts that I would just clarify my basis in responding to some threads to anyone who cares.

I generally take up the torch when I see someone assume or post, without giving supporting arguements, that reflects negatively on a poster on this BBS.

I like to take a positive stance and give a person the benefit of the doubt when they post a concern or a complaint. I guess I view that they are miffed enough to take the time to come to a BBS to voice their concern and I find it hard to swallow that someone would categorically run around making up a series of events or stories for the sole intent to cause strife/problems/disruption.

I try my best to put myself in their shoes and temper my views by past encounters I have had dealing with staff. I try my darndest to sympathize first and help as a overall basic tenet.

I really truly believe a person who posts negatively (originating author especially) about an encounter in game or with staff are upset. Instead of fanning the proverbial flame I try to see why they are upset and "acknowledge" their emotion.

Posting a general statement directed at solely discounting a person's complaint or concern does absolutely nothing in my book to "help" the situation.

Why would anyone intend to do such? I truly don't know. Mean spirited in general? Has a past history with the author where they have an existing bad relationship? Again without any supporting arguements or illustrations of past behavior then I just can't accept nor respect the responding poster's opinions.

I know this is long winded. I just am attempting to voice my opinion to first think of your intent and ask yourself "why" are you posting and what your "goal" is in doing so.

Thanks for the time and attention for those of you who persisted through all of this.
