Broken critters that need fixing

Old I had when I was experimenting with tree spirits. They could cast with no mana. Call lightning hits you no matter what. Never misses. A broken spell with a broken critter. I think I posted this on the board at one time. I believe I was wearing very heavy crit padded brig to.

The sucker had no mana and is level 26 and it's cloud hit me everytime. I had dex and shims on. Plus nothing weighing me down.

Curious if they are ever going to fix things like this? Anyone got a clue?

For all the new people. Look at all the topics in this section and others. Not just the last 45 days. We got a bunch of topics when the boards was still young. You might find something you like.

Some are actually pretty good reading.

Late reply:

Call lightning is not broken, that's the way it was intended to function. reg

He's not discussing Call Lightning...

He's discussing a critters ability to cast without mana. An ancient problem with some critters.

I saw 'Call lightning hits you no matter what. Never misses. A broken spell with a broken critter' and posted my reply. 125 functions much like many ranger spells and a couple other ones (i.e. no warding or dodging).

A creature that can cast spells with no mana is in my book a bug, though if you talk to a GM about it they usually say 'creatures don't follow the same rules that PC's do'. For example, how can a level 11 hill troll can wear metal breastplate with no encumberance, or why can critter spellcasters cast with heavy nerve damage? It might also be possible that call lightning is an ability, not a skill, which means they can cast it repeatedly with no need for mana (though admittadly I'm not sure). reg

They also casted boil earth with no mana. But to have a spell that hits every time like that is a broken spell to me. I would think that you would have a chance to avoid it. It's not age based at all.

You can avoid implosion, spike. Not meteor storm. But that kills the caster to. I can survive a meteor storm better then a call lightning.

<< I can survive a meteor storm better then a call lightning. >>

This has to be either false, or you never tested it.

Considering meteor swarm isn't age based or anything based and it does 3 hits per round once every 5 seconds for 3-4 minutes, I don't see how you can possibly survive a meteor swarm better than a call lightning.

Call lightning takes 30 seconds to form, and only does ONE attack every 10 seconds.

The old style creatures don't use mana in the normal sense. That's why they can cast while hurt and stuff too. The new style creatures do run out of mana. Once all the critters get changed over, then they'll all work right for spell casting. In the meantime it's just something ya have to live with.

Call Lightning is about the easiest spell in the world to avoid. It takes forever before it attacks. All you have to do is walk away.

So yer the arse who leaves them clouds fer me to run into...GRUMBLE

RUSVAL reg

Kranar. Because I can heal inbetween swarms. Lightning stunned me for so long that I could not.

Ask Malok for the logs of me metoer storming him. He survived 2 out of 3 storms. He would survive 0 call lightning due to it ignoring padding and age.

edge reg

<< Because I can heal inbetween swarms. >>

Once again, this is very hard to believe.

You would have to heal down 2 wounds and restore your health loss once every 5 seconds for 3-4 minutes which is a total of 40 attacks.

Did you cast it indoors? Indoors it has less than half its power and only does one wave.
