Future Plans...

Ok.

So we have a new area being created (Elven Nations).

We have an age cap.

We have a treasure system that's on the verge of collapse.

Enchanting changes are coming.

Where do we all think this game is going to go now? What are the next moves? What needs to be changed? When will everyone be happy?

In my opinion the game is split 50/50. You have people on one end that are totally all for hurting these so-called "powerhunters" and "cashhunters" because they are ruining their gaming environment. I don't think that's a fair thing to do. I'm of the opinion that these "powerhunters", etc. are not at fault whatsoever. Why are they being punished because they actually put a lot of time into the game everyday? I don't understand it whatsoever.

If some people want to hunt for levels and more levels then that's their thing. This realm costs us 29.95...if you want roleplaying out the wazoo...go get 79.95 a month and sign up your Platinum account. You'll find a mess of roleplayers over there. Of course the oldest person is 105...yet he can't hunt...b/c there's no one to come save him if he dies. Sounds kinda like what could happen if our whole realm goes that way.

Has anyone ever stopped and thought about maybe what would happen if all the changes everyone wants were put into place? This might be an overexaggeration...but what I see is Plat. If you haven't played Plat then you have no idea how hard it actually is over there. I don't care how many times I hear it...I know that nearly 90% of the people that have played GS have multi-accounted at least one time during their Gemstone careers. It's not a bad thing!

Well...enough of my tired whining...

And sorry it took me so long to post everyone.

Your not posting too much. Its a very good and intersting topic to bring up. The way I look at GS always being as a fun place to be. You just need to look at it as enjoyable. If power hunting makes you enjoy the game fine. If yah have some what of a problem with it do not help the cost by buying silver off of em or purchasing anything from them. I have always enjoyed the role playing part myself, but power hunting is also fine. Never has bothered me but I try not to rp with those people because most of the time (not stereotyping them) they are not the best role players. Its just about enjoying your past time. GS is slowly going down the drains, but it will be around for a while. Just enjoy it while its here.

Agreed.

I've never really enjoyed much of the RP'ing aspect. And yes...a lot of the people that complain about RP'ing aren't good at it at all.

I do think that everyone comes to GS for different reasons that we need to accept on several different fronts.

Yes...some people come to the game because they have a low self-esteem and this is the only medium that they can use to feel good about themselves.

Yes...some people have an in-game relationship that they find much more enjoyable than having to worry about in real life.

Yes...some people just have some problems that they need to kill everyone in sight in-game to feel better.

Yes...some people need to be richer in-game to create a stronger self worth out-of-game.

Yes...yes...yes...

GS is going down the tubes as you say. It isn't as much going down the tubes as it _has_ been going down the tubes. I believe GS has been going down the tubes for quite a while now.

Before GM's or "Gods" were looked up to with upmost respect and honor. We looked to some of them and were looking up at a friend. Nowadays, it seems like we're looking up to a monster that just wants to get back at people for the harsh time they had in GS. The new "core of GM's" if you will, is something to have a conversation about.

I feel like the people that have been around a while (Issigri, Bardon, Fawn, etc.) have either a) moved on to other realms that Simu has worked on or b) have kind of taken the backrow and let the "new breed" GM's takeover the game and see what they can do.

Either way I feel like the days of "Wow...you're old...you think you could go to Teras and buy me an oilcloth satchel?" were back. The days of "Ring...ring...hey, wake up...you gotta come raise me...there's absolutely no one around." Those days are gone...but oh how fun they were...the game depended on people being there. Now it's just a race.

Which race you should to run is your's.

Your's as always,

As weird as this may sound, Gemstones is kind of moving along with the world. Have you noticed over the last 10 years how people have started acting different. People are not very respectful to others it seems anymore. Of course your going to get that crowd who like to vandalize, steal, or such, but it seems like people that you do not suspect are doing things like this. I think it has to do with the media, how it has changed and expanded. The littlest things are made into the biggest things. Such things as Clinton smoking weed, so not everyone can do it. Well in game someone sees someone else disrespect a GM, then they think they can. GM's were considered Gods in the old day. Of course back then role play was a little more of a bigger thing and you wouldn't have GM's jumping in every conflict. Basically evolution takes place even quicker and it just kind of makes me woozy to the stomach from fear.

Just my over views. reg

"....and you wouldn't have GM's jumping in every conflict."

Five years ago I didn't even notice the GM's. Today I compare them to referees/umpires. If you start noticing them more than the players and the game, something is wrong.

My point exactly Gandmor.

If GM's are intervening way too much then there definitely is going to be a problem. Heck I don't remember having heard about any GM's being disrespectful and such until around the move to the web. Before we had people to actually level with on some issues (Cyper, Banthis, etc.) I really loved getting posts from Cyper regarding numbers and the such.

The other thing that's missing is the will for elders to continue to stay involved in the GS society. Dmitri vs. Dartaghan on the boards was one of the greatest times I've ever had reading message boards. Krakii posting all his posts of why dwarves are better than giants...seems everyone finally listened Krakii ...hearing Jacore speak about how great it was to be a two-handed wizard...I miss those days...but they've been ruined.

.

.

How have they been ruined...let me count the ways.
