Me and Uliq square off.

>Sadly the "customer is always right" ideal is slipping away very fast.

I've been working in retail for a long time and work as an office manager for the last four years. The mantra 'the customer is always right' is just a good saying. The customer can be wrong at times.

Correct the customer "can" be wrong at times. However I bet everyone would be highly upset if banks added the clause that they can change the intrest rates on your car and home loans as they see fit. So you go buy your dream home, only to find out after a year that the bank decided to raise the interest rate on your loan from 6% to 12%. That customer would storm into that bank demanding better service and that they are being treated unfairly. The bank clerk would calmly point them to the fine print saying Hey tough luck!

To even bring up the subject that we as customers of a product you work on are wrong about feeling that we have or were taken advantage of is just plain wrong. The last time major systems were implimented I lost over 50 friends in the period of about 3 months. This lowered my desire to play, however I stuck in with this. This is actually the first time I have ever spoken up about something like this. I am tired of seeing my friends in the game feel they have to quit because something they believed in for several years was now being turned into something they didn't sign up for. So your damn right I am concered I have friends left and right contacting me saying that they are leaving or plan on quitting soon because of the drastic changes. To think I even told many friends to come back because of several adjustments to the game that I felt helped it.

I am just glad to know where one of the reprisentatives of Simu stands and I really hope that all your co-workers read what you wrote here today. I love hearing someone from a company say things like this because finally we get to see their true colors and how they feel about us being their customers. Its too bad that I as a General Manger for Best Buy don't see your way of thinking because frankly attitudes like this is what drives people from your stores and also what prevents them from coming back or recomending a product to someone else. I know one thing is for sure, with a attitude like this I would have be fired from my job in about 2 weeks after working. Consumers shouldn't have to deal with this kind of garbage.

I really hope people can see exactly what Uliq is saying and I hope that everyone can see that he is as a rep for simu saying a collective "screw off" to anyone who doesn't like the changes.

I am currently highly pissed with these people again. They claim to be doing it for the better of the game as a whole, but what happens when you as a player loose all your friends in the game, how did that make yours or thier game any better then it was before?

Buckwheet reg

I think when certain GM's become GM's they tyrannisice themselves.

IE. Celtic Since he's beem in office...tons has changed. reg

I agree. Personal agendas...

Hope it blows up in their face.

Be jobless if we all leave.........

edge reg

7 years 4 different chars not at any time up until now did i feel like like quitting despite my 400m or so coin loss due to hackings or deals gone bad. with this new breakage they slit their own throats let em bleed slowly and painfully til they are covered in the blood of theyre arrogance..then watch them die

vivid/steven reg

Good point.

I am feeling the same way. I never once took quitting seriously despite loosing tons of friends, characters of mine becoming unviable because of changes to the professions.

This one time I feel the change is fairly drastic and not inline with what I am going to pay for.

Buckwheet reg

I am up for finding an alternative. I don't have a lot of time these days in looking for an alternative. But if we get the ball moving and I am sure others will follow.

Hiway reg

One thing to keep in mind. If you've followed Uliq's postings, you'll see he 99% of the time posts the reverse of popular opinion. Uliq uses that to strike debate, and so many, heck, too many take it personaly. And given all My years in customer service, I'd have said something much worse about the customer in general than he did.

Asmodea Drey'Haus reg

Not to stir the pot or anything, but I fail to see what all the fuss is about.

The customer can be wrong, and IS wrong 65% of the time in my experience. The customer is selfish and doesn't see the big picture, they see themselves being screwed. Its just the way it is.

So explain to me how I am wrong in feeling that I am being screwed, and convice me that the money I am going to spend on this product is not a waste of my money.

If you can't convince me, then I shouldn't be paying for this product. I must be missing something because whenever we get a upset customer our job is to try and take care of the problem the best we can. Which means there generally is some flexability because we want this person to come spend money on us again.

I don't know, but I am getting sick of the "Don't like it leave." attitude several companies are now using.

Too much realism is a bad thing.

*clears his throat*

You wanna good reason, Buckhwheet?

*yells,
"Because I said to STAY!"*

*grins* that good enough for ya?

Hey Buckwheet, ya forgot to post his response where he said he worked for Best Buy for years. I got a good chuckle outta that one.

"The customer is always right" is one of the stupidest sayings in existence. I don't see why people get all bent out of shape when a GM or anyone points out just how stupid it is. Not just stupid, but plain wrong. Customers lotsa times are morons and jerks. Good customer service isn't pretending that a moron or jerk is right just cause he's a customer. That annoys the other customers who aren't morons or jerks.

Its funny though that my store seems to atleast have some integrity because we still follow that ideal and most of my departments score in the top 50 in the company.

Oh well. I guess if you want to be treated like garbage I might have to start doing that here.

Heh.

Buckwheet

No more using vowels when you post. If you do you will be kicked off my boards.

I am beginning to get a sense of what all the hubub is about GM's and inconsistency. It seems that in my first nine months of Gemstone, my scurrilous rogue swore four times. I was soaped a couple of the times early on, much to my surprise and ultimate delight. It seemed funny at the time to speak with bubbles. One time on a hunt for treasure with a large group, I exclaimed rather loudly that we all had disks! Only I didn't say "disks." One of the gods sent to me the thought [ I hope that was a mistake. I said it was.]
Not that I claim innocence at all. I am guilty of swearing. This customer was wrong. This month I was hunting with my favorite friend, Banisco, in zombies. A Bless caused my falchion to drop and the zombie used it against me. She and I were alone.
You got it. I swore. I said the "s" word. I was immediately whisked to a Consultation Lounge for the first time and made to read policy. I did. I said I learned my lesson. Kraynar, I think it was, said that it was my fifth warning: thirty day lock out.
Fifth warning? Those were soaps. If they, the powers that be, can be consistent with this, I can understand. I did swear. They are counting soapings. However, I know at least five other people who have gotten a wink and a nod repeatedly for their vulgarity. Also, it was my first Consultation Lounge where I was made to read policy. What are your thoughts? Any of you slip up and swear?
Some have told me to write a letter and say anything. Say it was someone else on my account. Say i was drunk at the time. Say I was in bed otherwise distracted. Say anything. It has worked for them in the past.

Abiding by the lock out and staying away

I dunno about anyone else, but I can read what's on the page just fine Caels.

R - who is exempt from the policy by virtue of her natural perfection.

Well his PC, [edited at the request of the GM], is just as hot headed as his GM persona...

Do what I do, chuckle.

(heyyy, he worked at Best Buy?)
