OOC posts (here) with in-game effects...

This shall be a topic open for anyone to discuss about, basicly, posts here being used against them in-game...

Last i knew, this was a non-simutronics related site, for players to speak and discuss here, my latest e-mail from daecir at lockout, refusing to ever respond to my messages again, since i disected one on a post in the banned folder, leaves me to now believe that GMs are reading this, and treating it like an IN-GAME matter.

Has anyone else experienced this? Has a GM in game given you hell for a post you made here? Are they even allowed to do that in their own policy? How can they even know i'm Urgoyle? what if i'm just an urgoyle hater or somesuch, and i decided to post 'GM SUX!' in every folder?...

Which leaves another question.. Can i just pick someone i dislike in game, make a new account with their name, and post post post post about how corrupt the staff is, hoping to get them locked out?... Does anyone else find this ridiculous?...

Share your thoughts, since it's clear my 30 day lockout, turned permanent now apparantly <I'm invited to request a release into the game once my orriginal lockout is up, i will, but i'm sure of the response already, as i'm just jumping through hoops now>, is in somehow related to my posts here... Is simutronics allowed to extend their long arm of policy off into the entire god-damned internet?

-Urgoyle reg

Technically, no.

Realistically, yes.

Yes, GMs are watched by other GMs generally. And so, true abuse of GM power is a rarity.

But if most GMs don't like you, it's easy for them to turn a blind eye to your plight and a deaf ear to your plea.

Policy is like the American Legal system.

It's fair and just until those that enforce it turn against you. And if that's ever the case, you're just screwed.

- The Klaive reg

Simutronic's staff and the people that supervise are not solely concerned about their revenue or health of their product.

It has always been that way at this amateur little place. Personal vendetta's and pride have always taken front seat there and will continue to do so under current leadership. Pettiness is job one, not quality.

Disagree with a GM, especially in opinion and they will be vindictive and ban you for it. That is fact. Stand up and want to be treated as an equal? ::laugh:: The training severely lacks in that department.

Sure respect should flow both ways, but it sure takes a sense of style and dedication to professionalism.

Hiway reg

But does simutronics have any legal right, to stalk me around the internet, monitoring things i do <such as posting here> and levy in-game sanctions against me? reg

I'll go one better...

Simutronics can do whatever the hell they want to because they are the company that controls your account....

Even if someone said, that someone said, that someone said, that someone said you put up a website that flames GMs and directly posts NDA information that is handed off to various hosts and staff...You will SUREDLY be pulled into the lounge for some good old-fashioned interrogation...

I think they flash the lawyer card to scare off some kiddies but bottom line is : They have the right to deny service to anyone, for any reason...

Even if it does include stalking us here on other boards...

Fun ain't IT?!

reg

So they are the company that controls my account, but this isn't a free game.... Doesn't the fact that i PAY for this somehow mean i have some kind of rights? I am paying for goods or services, right? I know how everyone is going to respond to this, but does that mean the only logical conclusion is that anyone who pays to play a game on the internet is stupid?

-Urgoyle... who used to love playing federation a while back <www.ibgames.net>, until he realized how silly it was... heh, i'd work a day job, then i'd log online during my leisure time, to 'work' there too... manage my personal finances... then a company finances... then eventually run an entire planet... kind of fun, but very, very silly, in an adult kind of way... They knew how to run a business though, you paid to be there, and it was very simple, do whatever the hell you want.. You could man a gunship and blast people out of space, but they could put prices on your head, or try to trap you, you could transmit curses over and over, but the staff would just yank your com, leaving you all alone... very effective and unbiased, in the end.. And boy did i get distracted and chatter on, heh, i'll stop. reg

You pay a monthly rent for time on their server. Period.

I go to a private school. I pay to attend it. They have certain rules, like:

a) If you get in trouble for cheating twice, you get "asked to leave".
b) If you are caught with drugs or alcohol, on-campus or off, you get counselling and a warning. Do it again, and you're "asked to leave".
c) Battery, theft, vandalism, and the like all are grounds to be immediately "asked to leave".

And many, many more. But:

"The School reserves the right to seperate at any time a student whose conduct, influence, spirit, industry, progress or academic standing is regarded as undesirable or unsatisfactory, or whose actions negatively impact the school community. Because [my school] demands that students act with character, integrity and honor at all times, this behavior extends to off-campus and non-school related activity."

It means exactly what it says. Kids can (and do) just disappear. They'll tell you, if you don't want to follow their rules, there are plenty of other schools you can go to. Simu/Gemstone is the same way.

Hooray. I love my school's policies. reg

And you don't think Gemstone III is a job? The things I have seen....

Move on brother move on.

Hiway reg

I'll move on... on my own god damn time, in my own god damn way... as edge said before, this is something worth fighting for, and if i have to go and play under their noses forever, i guess that would kind of suck anyway... but i want to get back into my characters, say my goodbyes, perhaps bequith someone with my things, then take off... but it will be on MY terms, not the terms of someone having a bad day, or stalking me around the internet, monitoring things i do, and places i post. reg
After stating that you can be sure they will never let you back in the game. Just kidding. I hope that speaking on this board would not effect you in anyway in the game considering I do not believe that anyone goes ooc in game from these boards based on these boards.

Also Yes just look at what happen with scintillion. Created an oog website and band for life. Proof that they can do what ever when ever.

Actually, he CAN request for his lockout to be reviewed on August 1, 2002.

Anyone want to take bets on whether he'll be let back in the game? reg

So i suppose the real question is, how can simutronics keep a playerbase in gemstone the way they've been acting?

I suppose some people have nothing better to do online, but when.... god, it's tough to form words to express the dismay, it's like.... it's like.... gee, i can't even think about what it's like....

it's almost like watching that second plane fly into the world trade center... you might've thought the first one could've been an accident or something, then you see the second one, and you go 'Nooooo.... they couldn't honestly be thinking about... they... oh my god... they are...'

oh well... all hands abandon ship reg

<<So i suppose the real question is, how can simutronics keep a playerbase in gemstone the way they've been acting?>>

Because people like me continue to pay them no matter how badly they have treated me...Its an addiction. Although, now its more like killing off a best friend if I close my account. All that energy put into my character to have it rubbed off the face of the earth is unsettling...

Definately not addicted anymore...and once I get my DAOC fix implanted, I'm sure I won't give a flying fig what Simu and their incompetent staff does with that business anymore

I'd say the above was their first clue that yes, you really are Urgoyle.

Which in and of itself will lower your chances of being released from lockout. If a kid got grounded for a week and their mother asked "Now Johnny, do you understand why you were grounded and do you promise not to do it again?" what do you think the smart reply would be?

"Yeah, I know you're gonna ground me again for a month if I don't say yes, so yes mom, I got it and I'll never do it again. Sheesh, get off my case."

"Yes mother, I messed up and I won't do it again."

Most of us probably were there as kids, and most of us probably figured out which was the better response. reg

Urgoyle-

Someone was probably just looking at a character list and some grape jelly oozed out of their donut and hit the PERMABAN key.

I wouldn't be suprised.

Maybe it is the full moon, but that is the funniest thing you have ever said Zentalin.

Hiway= in an odd sense of humor tonight reg

When's the last time you were grounded as a kid, for fighting back against a bully?... No wait... actually, if i was to apply this to my case... let's see...

You go paintballing, and decide to have a duel with somebody, 1 on 1, you win, they go crying to their parents, their parents smooth-talk your parents into grounding you.. now there's a fair thing... but wait, no real parent would treat their kid like this...

If, by your analogy, simu is our parents, and we are all children <which in and of itself is wrong wrong WRONG> shouldn't the parent always stand by the child?...
