I thought it would be interesting to talk about the view Simutronics takes when it comes to POLICY and the reasoning behind the POLICY.
The theory behind every POLICY is to keep making money.
How: By maintaining enjoyment of the game for everyone as well as maintaining the intergrity of the company and the company equipment (including staff).
Breakitdown! So you have two types of POLICY 'breakers':
1. The d00ds. The "Did you see that game on TV last night?". The scripters, the PvP without consenters, the multi-accounting in order to become God'ers', the (*)% r's, the cheaters, the do anything it takes to *win* Gemstoner's.
And the other:
2. The GM's suck'ers, The Simutronics is an evil company'ers, The policy is not strict enough'ers, the post until it hurts'ers, the scream at the top of your lungs until you get heard'ers, the broke a GM's heart'ers, the Do you like the sports car I bought David Whatley'ers, the How many GMs did you do to get that outfit'ers.
Now, the need to get rid of the #2s (IMHO) is much less necessary than getting rid of the #1s. The #2s are usually old time players, have seen it all, usually know most of the staff by name, they aren't leaving unless you pull the plug. These are your profits.
Now, for discussion, to me:
#1's are much more annoying, destroy the integrity of the game and have now taken over Gemstone with the rambling on about AS and DS and
))))))'s. While Simutronics has been so worried about getting the evil #2'ers out of their hair, they have turned this game into a playpen.
I'm constantly blown away by the need to harass these #2's that pay and OBVIOUSLY care about what happens inside the game (sometimes a little too much, but hey, they give a crap), yet the d00ds multiply in droves because they simply do not have time to post on the boards, let alone interact with staff regarding concerns about profession changes, they are too busy scripting their way to 5000.
