Warning Happy GM's

09:24 PMI was given a warning earlier today for afk scripting with no warning and no apparent attempt to check if I was scripting or not. I was warned, thrown in the limbo without a word from a GM in anyway shape or form. I opened up my account and cancelled it. This is the second time this has happened, I believe both times to be by the same GM Krylan. My account is now locked out, the first time the ruling got overthrown by GM Daecir. I don't understand how a company can run a business like this. Get the little kids out of the big seats and let your customers play. reg

08:53 AMseems many people, including me, have had problems with Krylan... maybe we're all bad people, and we deserved to be punished by a GM who's supposed to be coding stuff, not showing his impressive disarray of customer service experience....

01:11 PMNo apparent check...Interesting that you don't state if you were scripting or not. Somehow, I just don't think a GM would have tossed you in the pokey if you immediately responded upon being tossed there.

I've been tested for scripting before, while being bored out of my mind doing guildwork, and nothing happened once I showed I was awake.

My only opinion in this matter is that I don't believe you're telling us the entire story.

As someone else before stated that they had been banned for naming a GM's name...the entire story came out and it made a lot more sense.

How many previous warnings were on the account?

I would ask for a log, but it would be far too easy to just remove the "afk checks" done by the GMs. reg

As to the claims of me lying. You can ask anyone that knows me and I am not a dishonest person. There are a few people that post here that know what kind of person I am, Edgeleaf being one as I've done a lot of deals with him.

As for the whole story... I was scripting. Scripting itself it not against the rules, AFK scripting for long term periods is.

I was hunting rats with a baby cleric, I was killing a rat one minute and the next I saw.. You have been warned etc and off to the limbo.

How about asking first?

PS. This is the 2nd time for this. The first time I did have a log, I sent it in and Daecir released the warning and lockout on my account.

From the Rules of Conduct, Scripting Policy, 3rd paragraph:
In any case, AFK scripting is entirely against GemStone III policy and is immediately a warnable offense (If you need to go grab a sandwich or leave your keyboard, you should stop any experience scripting to avoid being warned. The excuse that you left your keyboard only for a few minutes will not prevent you from gaining a warning since the GM will have no way of verifying that fact). reg

09:10 AMGm Daecir is now responding to me with the details of my lockout and with no surprise to me Krylan was the GM who gave the warning and placed the lockout on my account.

Krylan, the GM that's supposed to be coding, the GM who had his warning and lockout overturned a month previously for being WRONG.

Same GM, one month later, giving the same warning and same lockout on the same account. Seem a little targeted?

Has anyone else had problems with GM Krylan, the coder, doing other duties in Gemstone? reg

Maybe it would be if you didn't make yourself out to be a target.

GM's, from my experience, always give you at least one opportunity to show you're not AFK. I have never heard of anyone being banned for being at the keyboard.

As always, lockouts aren't judged by only one GM - there are several of them who agreed with the terms of this lockout. In the first case, it looks like GM Daecir agreed with you and overturned the decision. This time seems to be different.

Yup... I've had horrible dealings with him, so have a lot of other people... This guy should be thrown out already, because the more stories i hear about him, the more it looks like some code-cruncher just has a bad day with a computer, and decides to take it out on some people... and how often he does it, is quite disturbing also.

11:22 AMScripting to gain experience is against policy. For someone who's always posting their knowledge of creating an array of scripts, I wouldn't try to look SO innocent.
Should they use this OOC knowledge for what you do in the game? Nope. However you are making it known that you use them quite a bit. Just my view anyway. reg
05:36 PMI have had my own problems with Krylan, he gave me an official warning for saying bashit of all things, didn't even pullme to ask questions.
