GM Storyline Interaction

How many of you have participated in a GM Storyline such as Something Wicked or Thurfel. What did you think? How much creative leaway did you have?

How did you become a part of the storyline?

I'm just curious. I've never had any interaction with any of the big plot stories that happen, other than having kobolds drooling on my knees or meeting up with merchants or fun NPCs like toymaking elves passing out gifts during the holiday season.

I tried to get 'into' Something Wicked, but whenever I asked what was going on people would either ignore me, or not give a straight answer. Hence, I never really got involved. I was also out of town when the invasion hit, but it's not like I could have done anything anyway.

I was semi-involved in the Thurfel quest around six months ago. I started to be one of the regulars by simply showing up when everyone else would, but eventually things in the quest became very politic (read: clashing egos), and I decided it wasn't worth it anymore. Now I more or less stand at the sidelines and make comments.

Also, from what I understand, the Thurfel quest has sort of stalled. A few months ago it was all about Yfa, and her staff. Then they needed to look for the staff after she may or may not have died, they found a staff (which may not be the real staff) and... well, there was a lot of business with the staff. And possessions, posessions were/are big in this quest. Anyway, things are running in a big circle, sort of like a wind-up boat in a bathtub. Until the pace begins to pick up more, I'm content to just watch. reg
